Tasks Design of mechanisms and deployable structuresdevices from concept stage through to detailed design to enable analysis and manufacture Negotiate technical issuesrequirementsdesign solutions with customers Trade off technical solution with other disciplines Creation of piece part drawings from 3D models to enable manufacture of components Write documentation for Design definition, Manufacturing, Assembly and Integration and detailed procedures through interaction with MAIT teams Manage configuration of all designs control of BOM Support technical reviews with customers Provide technical support to procurement, manufacture and assembly activities Support business development team in preparing technical proposals for customers Essential Skills and Experience Strong Bachelors or Masters degreelevel in mechanical engineering related subject or HNC minimum with strong relevant experience Innovative thinking the ability to be given technical requirements and to create robust design solutions using own initiative and the ability to critique own ideas Very good understanding of mechanical and thermal properties of engineering materials and their practical implementation, correct use of tolerances, Engineering drawing standards and manufacturing techniques High level of experience using CAD software packages for mechanical design preferably SolidWorks is essential. You will be involved in design, development and testing of structural and moving systems on the launch vehicle including control mechanisms as part of GNC. You will need at least 7 years working experience on flight vehicles. Experience in CAD, thermal and FEA analysis, FMEA analysis is required. We are seeking a Fuel Systems Engineer to work within our highly skilled, crossfunctional team to gain and deploy expertise across a range of fluid mechanical tasks. They will be required to support the continuing development of inservice programmes and the certification of new modifications including new fuel types. Our Fuel and Inerting Systems interface with a huge number of other aircraft functions including Wing, Fuselage and Empennage Structures, Electrical Systems, Powerplant, Auxiliary power unit APU, Avionics, Flight Handling and we continuously find innovative ways of improving our systems and products to help our customers achieve future business needs. The role will also require significant collaboration with fuel system equipment and resource suppliers and Airbus teams from Customer Services, Chief Engineering, Programmes, Safety, Airworthiness, Test, RT and Procurement. The objectives for this role include o Acting as a focal point for a particular sub system within Airbus Fuel systems. o Plan and complete fluid system design tasks using a range of analysis tools and methods with good knowledge of fluid mechanic principles o Provide resource estimates and programme plans to support fluid mechanical tasks to completion o Support the development, qualification and maturity testing of new subsystems. Summary An opportunity for a Thermal and Mechanical Technician to work onsite at ESTEC for Telespazio VEGA UK. This is a fixedterm one year position. Objective To support defined ESA projects with the experimental verification and environmental testing of small scale space equipment in the Mechanical Systems Laboratory. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but are not limited to Support ESA projects and external customers in the domain of thermal and mechanical experimental verification and environmental testing of small scale space equipment in facilities of the Mechanical Systems Laboratory MSL. Heshe will be involved in all activities related to preparation, execution, and evaluation and reporting under the direct supervision of the Head of the Laboratory. Support the development and the maintenance of the laboratory infrastructure. Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 for operational work and shall support the definition and maintenance of working maintenance procedures for the laboratory facilities. Make regular progress reports. Provide adequate documentation, covering all above tasks. Qualifications Experience At least Technical Degree B.Sc. Diploma or equivalent in a relevant physical science or engineering subject. Demonstrated background in environmental testing and thermal verification. Proven experience in the area of testing with evidence of work in a laboratory and within a team of engineers and technicians. Good knowledge of ISO 17025 quality systems. Proven experience in the area of laboratory maintenance calibration data acquisition. Experience of cryogenics is an asset.
