Mechanical Ground Support Equipment Engineer MGSE Engineer

Job Title Mechanical Ground Support Equipment Engineer Site Location Harwell Travel Percentage 10 Role Reports To AIT Manager Primary Purpose of the Role Reporting to the AIT Manager, the main duties and responsibilities may include Review of customer requirements and establish MGSE concepts Define requirements for MGSE and compile specification. Establish cost estimates and calls for tender for MGSE procurement Manages the MGSE cost and ensures that the equipment is available by the required deadlines Participates andor follows the design, development and manufacturing of the MGSE Oversee manufacturing process, this may include Procurement, Trials of equipment before use in AIT Validation and certification for use in the AIT facility Develop documentation for the MGSE, which may include Configuration diagrams Assembly drawings Engineering analysis Certification procedures Maintenance plan User manuals 1st level support for the AIT facility, which may include Commissioning of hardware Composition of AIT procedures Training for AIT team Handling of equipment during AIT Maintenance of the MGSE, this includes the maintenance plan, calibration data and safety checks as required Participation in the resolution of issues experienced during AIT Configuration management of the MSGE hardware and documentation. Maintenance of legacy MGSE working with team members based in other TAS Sites for knowledge sharing The position will be based at the TASUK Harwell office. Principal Relationships Internal Relationships AIT Manager Project Manager for definition of work packages and detailed project oversight of task delivery Other engineering teams to define interfaces, requirements specification and verification to support hardware design, implementation test activity Product Assurance Manager for support of investigation and correction of problems. External Relationships Customer interaction to achieve consensus on technical aspects Technical oversight of subcontract delivery Key Responsibilities and Tasks Overview of specifications, architecture, development and validation plans Implement and test hardware in accordance with relevant standards Values Behaviours Produce items to quality standards to meet customer contractual requirements. Provide all tasks and outputs, typically defined within a work package description, in conformance to agreed scope budget and schedules. Build relationships with colleagues and work cooperatively with others to achieve project goals. Contribute to professional exchanges and develop the corporate expertise in digital design engineering. Proactive to optimise engineering processes to reduce costs

Mechanical Design Engineer Engineering Support to Manufacture

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be providing support the Manufacturing team and focusing on Concession designs and nonconformances. This means the role is varied and tackles problems and designs that are out of the usual. Were looking for someone who has strong design experience with nonconformances concession design experience. You will be joining a team of 5 within a much larger department, where there is the opportunity to progress your career UK and company wide. The successful candidate will need to gain UK Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. The development of design solutions and repair schemes for nonconformances generated during the design, manufacture and test of spacecraft structures and component parts under tight schedule constraints. Interfacing with project managers and other technical departments in order to optimise the technical solutions and resources, and to ensure that all project and qualification requirements for those related items and systems are met. Presenting and justifying design concessions at internal and external customer reviews. Participating in reviews to ensure all applicable nonconformance and occurrence reports have been satisfactorily closed prior to spacecraft delivery to the launch site Assessing and recommending second closure actions relating to nonconformances to help prevent future similar issues. Identifying opportunities for involvement in innovation projects, to investigate and develop new design solutions. Focusing on On Quality, On Cost, On Time to minimise impact on the projects. Attending team meetings to closely follow the project progress and maintain close relations with the project team. Supporting the Team Leader with workpackage management activities as required. Raising significant issues to the project Responsible Engineers as necessary. Taking an active role in the identification of improvement and development activities.
