Yarn prices are staying stable or slightly declining in the current period in India, with cotton prices however remaining very firm after the government has sharply raised the minimum price levels. Margins could therefore drop at spinning mills, as reflected by our new tables covering yarn prices in Tirupur (Tamil Nadu) and Bhiwandi (Maharashtra). Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Polyester spun prices have further dropped in the last seven days in China, in line with a sharp decline of polyester staple fiber prices. Margins are improving at Chinese spinning mills with demand being however depressed by the continuous fall of prices. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Cotton Prices on International and Domestic Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton prices have remained relatively firm this week on international and domestic markets, with pessimism however prevailing after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has confirmed that cotton consumption could eventually be lower than expected this season. Production levels have also been overestimated, especially in Pakistan where prices are further rising as a result.
