Spun yarn prices have stayed very firm in the past days on India's domestic market whereas cotton yarn export prices were further falling by contrast. Demand from China could now be depressed, in line with the low level of textile production currently in this country. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Cotton prices are now dropping on domestic markets in China, India and Pakistan, over larger arrivals from the new crop and relatively weak demand from spinners. In New York, prices have stayed firm in the last week whatever the overall decline of financial markets. Cotton yarn prices have begun more clearly declining in China, in line with a lack of demand from downward textile and apparel producers, now reluctant in buying yarns ahead of additional US sanctions over Chinese imports. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
