Cotton fiber prices have begun receding in China, ahead of the current holiday week, with the cotton yarn prices giving signs of weakness. Polyester staple fiber and spun yarn prices have continued declining in the meantime. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cotton prices have plunged to 8-month lows in the last week in New York, reflecting rising pessimism over the negative impact of the US-China trade war. Larger availability of cotton fibers in this period of the year is also depressing prices on domestic markets in China, India and Pakistan. Cotton yarn prices are slightly dropping in Pakistan, in line with a decline of cotton fiber prices, our Pakistan correspondent reports. Prices are however expected staying relatively firm in the coming period in line with a rebound of domestic demand from spinners. The polyester market has stabilized in the meantime. Spun yarn prices could therefore drop, over a rise of cotton arrivals on the domestic market. Our weekly review offers a comprehensive picture of the domestic and export yarn markets in Pakistan, with cotton yarns, polyester-cotton, polyester-viscose, polyester spun and viscose spun prices being covered. Cotton yarn prices are further declining in India, over a new drop of cotton fiber prices as larger cotton quantities are arriving at local markets, day after day. Cotton yarn export prices have further plunged in the meantime. Polyester fiber and spun yarn prices have stabilized, after previously rebounding. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.
