Engineer, Satcom Operations Singapore Singapore ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The position is responsible for supporting commissioning of new services and providing 24x7 Level 3 Managed Services oncall support to the SES NOC. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for engineering escalations and other services to keep the network stabilized and maintained for customer SLA requirements. The role will be primarily focused on the baseband equipment RF components of the product portfolio, but also includes a networking element. As a customer facing position, it will concentrate on the support and growth of existing new business products. The incumbent will gain a broad knowledge of SES product range and how these are integrated as customer solutions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULTS AREAS Support Incident Management in line with Company defined ITIL processes, ensuring timely escalations as appropriate to meet Customer SLAs Ensure the configuration, testing, implementation inservice support by way of Level 3 Engineering Support to 24x7x365 NOC of SES Products Complete Operations Engineering changes as required, adhering to the defined Change Management process Work as part of a Global Team to ensure active Incidents are actioned utilizing a Follow the Sun support methodology Perform routine auditing of assigned Regional Area or specific Customer sites, liaising closely with NOC appropriate CSM RSL for any identified issues Participate in lifecycle of a customer project, Post Sales through to Customer Acceptance Liaise with customers and support the integration of SES products with their infrastructure Work with Engineering Product Development Teams in order to support the growth of the SES portfolio and the feedback potential improvements to baseband equipment RF components Work efficiently as part of a multidisciplinary team Adhere to delivery schedules and manage time accordingly Interact with other operational groups and support coordination of projects Proactively expand areas of knowledge and seek out new experience Development of technical support documentation for handover to Operations Develop a full understanding of existing SES systems, processes procedures to provide input for continuous improvement Ensure administration of Monitoring Tools to support customer solutions Ensure Incident Management ticketing system is updated with correct resolutions and closure codes to promote continual improvement of the troubleshooting process Perform other tasks as requested required Stay uptodate with stateoftheart IT concepts and technologies virtualization concepts mainly Oncall support duties will be required 247 on a rotational basis COMPETENCIES Ability to integrate into crossfunctional andor virtual project teams Good analytical and problemsolving skills ability to frame complex problems or business issues and can elaborate and articulate alternative solutions Proactive approach towards potential andor current customers Flexible attitude to working hours, allowing seamless support for customers take ownership of incidents, from inception through conclusion High attention to detail Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to understand priorities and to proactively deliver results, even under tight deadlines Ability to overcome resistance to change Resourcefully working through, or around, obstacles to complete tasks Ability to learn new technologies quickly QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Information Systems or equivalent experience with communications satellite systems or similar advanced technical support role Minimum 5 years of experience in the satellite or telecommunications industry Experience in developing andor maintaining satellite terminal systems or satellitebased networking data systems, including stabilized terminals Experience of connecting remotely to mobility sites for remote troubleshooting, to include Oil and Gas Maritime platforms Experience troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining local and remote baseband, IF, RF, antennas, and WANLAN equipment Solid working knowledge of Satellite Communications Baseband, Network Management, and Modem systems equipment Experienced in developing and maintaining high availability satellite or telecommunications systems through the use of manned and unmanned facilities Strong understanding of GEO, MEO, and LEO telecommunications satellite technologies and systems Advanced knowledge of iDirect Products from an installation and operation perspective Experience with Unix Linux systems administration and creation shell scripts to automate tasks Experience with Satellite Communication Baseband Network Management. Operations Analyst, Level II Customer Support United States Manassas, Virginia Role Description Summary As the Operations Analyst, you will be responsible for taking ownership in resolving longterm and highly visible customer service incidents. You will coordinate with commercial, development, and technology teams to ensure delivery of bestinclass customer service. In this role, you will perform upgrades of day to day operations software needed by all Level 2 to maintain operational efficiency. In addition, you are expected to support the development of operational and system requirements by liaising with multiple departments within SES. You will also support other projects and activities affecting all areas of operations in order to provide bestinclass systems and services for SES operational teams. Position Reference 071 You will have the opportunity to support the definition of the System Operations concepts and requirements for the next generation of Galileo, through active interfacing with System and Segments design experts, to ensure that the system functionalities and performances fulfil the mission objectives of the new Galileo generation. You will be primarily assigned to the Systems Operations Engineering of the G2G, supporting at the same time other missions within the Galileo programme, e.g. Galileo First Generation. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Definition and maintenance of the G2G System Operations project documentation, including the System Level Operations Concept both classified and unclassified and the Operations Service Requirement Document. Particular focus is expected on the compatibility analysis between the new generation of Galileo Satellites and the Ground Segment evolutions, the new planning functionalities as well as operations automation and monitoring and control aspects. Identification of the required Operational Improvements to be injected in the new system functional architecture definition, based on a systematic analysis of the lessons learned derived from the Galileo First Generation. Interfacing with the System design experts within the Project to ensure that the system functionalities and performances fulfil the new mission objectives and operability requirements for all the different mission scenarios and system operating modes. Based on the operations concept evolution and lessons learned analysis, derive operability requirements in support of the System and Segment requirements definition and consolidation. Support the Galileo Project Office on the interactions with the Galileo GNSS Supervisory Authority Agency GSA for the definition of operational needs coming from service requirements. Active participation to Galileo Evolution Engineering Boards, System and Segments Working Groups. Active participation to Galileo System and Segments Project Reviews and coordination of the interaction between the operations team and the Galileo Project Office. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. You have advanced knowledge of the current GALILEO system and its expected evolution. You have proven experience in operations engineering analysis of mission requirements, operational feasibility, identification of main operational drivers and definition of system operational concepts to support both ground mission control systems and satellite design to ensure that the overall system functionalities and performances fulfil the mission objectives and operability requirements. You have a good understanding of mission control systems integration and verification, including the integration and testing of the individual ground elements up to the progressive integration and acceptance of the whole system and related interfaces. You have advanced knowledge of the current Galileo operational processes related to operations preparation, validation and execution and related interfaces. You have proven experience in engineering coordination tasks and capability to interface with system design experts at both Project and Industry support level. You have good communication skills and the ability to carry out activities and interact in a complex teamwork environment. You have good practical and analytical skills. Within the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations team of the Flight Operations FLO Division, the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations Engineer will support the operations preparation and operations of the future Meteosat Third Generation MTG satellites and routine operations of Meteosat Second Generation MSG satellites. DUTIES Support the integration of the MTG ground segment facilities supporting flight operations, e.g. satellite simulators, mission control and mission planning systems, and ensure the exchange of relevant information between the MTG development teams and the Flight Operations Division Support MTG space segment and system reviews to ensure correct implementation of operations requirements Contribute to the specification, development, procurement, verification and validation of operations preparation tools Support operations preparation activities for the MTGI imaging mission and MTGS sounding mission satellites, including technical support to specific development activities, e.g. of on board software and offline tools Participate in the definition and execution of necessary training activities and operational rehearsals for MTG operations personnel Support Launch and Early Operations Phase LEOP services for the MTGI and MTGS satellites Support the definition and execution of MTG system commissioning activities Plan routine operations of Meteosat Second Generation MSG and MTG space segment components, including planning of oncall support Support MSGand MTG spacecraft operations, including maintenance of operational procedures and databases, anomaly investigations and participation in oncall support Interface with the MTG development programme, ESA and Space Segment industry as required Deputise for the MTG Spacecraft Operations Preparation Team Leaders as required. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Successful proven professional experience in the field of satellite operations, gained during operations preparation andor routine operations of a complex space system Professional experience in fields such as Satellite payload systems or Data Handling and Onboard Software subsystems would be an advantage Ability to understand the implications of decisions taken during the development phase for future routine operations Ability to followup on a number of different tasks and ensure their completion at good quality levels with minimum supervision Knowledge of satellite system design andor of satellite monitoring and control principles for safe and efficient operations Ability to detail and synthesise technical concepts in formal documents and verbal presentations Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to apply these to interactions within a team and between teams. EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS The initial contract will be of 4 years duration, with subsequent 5 year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of followup contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT. This post is graded A2A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 5,612 per month net of internal tax which may be negotiable on the basis of skills and experience.
