Summary A great opportunity for a Science Operations engineer to support the gammaray astronomy mission, working onsite at ESAC for Telespazio VEGA UK. Objective To provide support to Integral Science Operations contributing to INTEGRAL Target of Opportunity activities, the Science Archive, support to the scientific data analysis software and instrument calibration. Responsibilities Duties The successful candidate can expect to be involved in Generation of conflict free and optimized science instrument operations plan, timelines and command sequences. Providing Target of Opportunity ToO on call service. Coordination of the release of Announcements of Opportunity for observing time, and provide support to the Project Scientist in the subsequent proposal peer review process by the Observing Time Allocation Committee. Supporting the setup of calibration observations, including coordination with instrument teams or to engineering observations requested MOC. Interaction with the INTEGRAL Science Data Centre ISDC for the dissemination of data from the archive created and maintained at the ISDC. Supporting the Time Allocation Committee TAC and Project Scientist during the proposal evaluation process, e.g., by technical evaluation of proposals or serving as secretary for TAC panel meetings. Interaction with instrument teams, as requested in order to acquire and maintain instrumentspecific knowledge at the SOC. Tasks will include Contributing to INTEGRAL ToO activities especially linked to the detection and followup of electromagnetic counterparts of Gravitational Wave and High Energy Neutrino events. Supporting the planning and development of the INTEGRAL Legacy Science Archive. Maintaining of and support to the OSA scientific data analysis software and INTEGRAL instrument calibration Providing second line support on helpdesk queries as requested. Providing feedback to and attend appropriate working groups as needed. Participation in internal and external group meetings as requested. Providing feedback to users and promote the mission at scientific conferences, e.g., by presentations Qualifications Experience University Masters degree, or equivalent, in Physics, Astronomy or similar related discipline. A good knowledge of Space Technologies and Astrophysics Essential Skill Experience of astronomical Xray or Gammaray data analysis Expertise in the development and command of modern and commonly used scientific analysis software, ideally with applications in Space Science. Good understanding of Scientific Operations of an international spacebased observatory. Excellent analytical and communication experience Desirable Skills Ability to attend meetingsconferenceworkshops and make presentations as requested. They also ensure the US MEO Backup Satellite Operations Center bSOC is fully operational and ready to take over mission operations at a moments notice.
