Spacecraft Operations Engineer for Payload, TTC and Data Handling Subsystems mf Galileo

LSE Space is looking for an Engineer mf fulfilling the task of Spacecraft Operations Engineering for Payload, TTC and Data Handling Subsystems in the Galileo Operations Team for our customer GfR in Oberpfaffenhofen. The objective of the Spacecraft Operations Engineer is the preparation, validation and execution of operations related to the data handling, TTC and payload subsystems of the Galileo Satellites. The main tasks of the position will be Preparation of Flight Operations Procedures FOP Writing of procedures Adaptation of procedures to new databases and procedures delivered by industry Definition of validation scenarios FOP validation, testing and result reporting Preparation of and participation in SVTs and simulations Test and validation of operational items like CSIM, ASW, ODB, SCCF and MOIS Participation in and provision of training spacecraft subsystems, Ops tools, Ops concepts Anomaly reports handling writing, action processing, support of review boards Operations support Offline analysis of the subsystem performance Support of routine, special and contingency operations during PF Commissioning, IOT and routine phase inclusive provision of shift and oncall support Provision of oncall service for the assigned subsystems during routine phase Required qualifications and work experience A Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering or in an equivalent discipline Proven experience in SC operations Knowledge of the GALILEO project Willing to work oncall support Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, in particular good knowledge of Data Handling and TTC and Payload subsystems Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns Additional skills required Systemminded and a team player Very good social skills Able to work in an interdisciplinary team Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Fluent in English, both in speech and writing German language skills would be an asset Benefits A permanent employment contract. System Operations Engineer 1513012 Job Description We are looking for someone to support our client EUMETSAT, to work as a System Operations Engineer at their headquarters in Darmstadt. You will be required to operate EUMETSATs operational systems, with particular focus on realtime endtoend mission operations and the systems required to support and monitor them. This includes Event Monitoring GEMS, system endtoend monitoring SMART, user notification systems UNSUMS, system monitoring NAGIOS, GMC, system monitoring infrastructure MASIF, as well as support to the coordination and management of the overall system performance monitoring. Main duties will include the support to system operations in a realtime operations environment, endtoend operations monitoring, user messaging systems configuration and operation, configuration of event monitoring and endtoend monitoring systems, monitoring infrastructure configuration and operation, multimission element and infrastructure operations and Mission Performance System Evolutions for existing and new programmes. The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the LEO GEO ground segments, as well as their evolution to include new programmes and system operations. definition andor maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to mission performance operations and the interfaces of the key systems within the ground segment, redesign and evolution of the mission performance systems to support existing and new programmes. maintain a Systemwide view of a number of systems eg MSG system, EPS CGS and OGS, particularly in the areas of system endtoend monitoring control and data flows. review any planned changes to the mission performance system configurations for LEO and GEO ground segments, and support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations. provide support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programs e.g. MetopC and MSG4, and for future operational programs now in development including Sentinel3, MTG and EPSSG. interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. You will be required to perform the following routine operations tasks definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, liaison with the spacecraft operations team and the ground segment facility operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities, interface with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, participation in the definition and implementation of any changes to the mission performance systems, processing of mission performance related system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards processing of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards, support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of mission performance system upgrades and evolutions, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team. Required Skills and Experience In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, you shall have the following mandatory attributes at least five years experience of endtoend system operations in a realtime spacecraft operations environment at least three years work experience in the operation of mission monitoring systems at least 3 years experience in the definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of mission data monitoring systems at least three years work experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground segment systems. fluency in English Desirable Skills and Experience experience at least three years in the operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO and Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems experience of configuration and monitoring using NAGIOS experience with the definition and analysis of operational user requirements experience of using configuration management systems such as CVS familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. Windows Unix Linux operating systems.
