Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced Ground System Operations Engineer to support the EUMETSAT Copernicus Programme in the area of System External Interfaces. Copernicus, previously known as GMES Global Monitoring for Environment and Security, is the European Union programme for the establishment of a European capacity for Earth Observation. Responsibilities As a Ground System Operations Engineer, you will support the routine operations phase of the Sentinel3A S3A as well as the operations preparation, commissioning and subsequent routine operations of sentinel 3B satellite and the procurement of Sentinel3 C and D. You will perform routine operations tasks such as Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison and coordination with the ground segment FOS and PDGS operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes, etc. Production and maintenance of operations documentation Joint Operations Rules and Procedures, Operations Interface Control Documents etc. Interface and coordination with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing and coordination of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Processing and coordination of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of system upgrades and evolutions, both standalone and in the context of the overall Sentinel3 ground segment Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in August 2016. You will be based at EUMETSATs facilities in Darmstadt, Germany, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities. Standby callout support may sometimes be required. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, you will have a minimum of five years experience of spacecraft and related ground segment operations.
