Background EUMETSAT operates a growing fleet of Earth Observation satellites in Low Earth and geostationary orbits currently comprising 7 EUMETSAT Meteosat Second Generation and Metop satellites, and 2 Copernicus Sentinel3 satellites. In parallel, EUMETSAT is working towards the launch of one next generation satellite each year in the period 20202025, beginning with JasonCSSentinel6 A and continuing with Meteosat Third Generation and Metop Second Generation satellites. Within the Flight Operations Division and reporting to the Mission Control Systems Manager, the Mission Control Systems Operations Engineer conducts operations of mission control systems for EUMETSAT and EUMETSAToperated Copernicus satellite systems, and supports the operations preparations of mission control systems for new satellite systems. What youll be doing Conduct operations of mission control systems across EUMETSAT and EUMETSAToperated Copernicus satellite systems, including planning and scheduling of routine and special operations, anomaly investigation and resolution, and configuration control and change management Participate in and, where appropriate, lead the coordination of monitoring and control operations and maintenance activities across EUMETSAT and EUMETSAToperated Copernicus satellite systems Maintain operations procedures, system databases and other operations products for operational mission control systems for satellite systems Manage system elements supporting monitoring and control of satellite systems e.g. tools for procedure development and execution, data analysis etc. Perform evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the performance and behaviour of operational mission control systems Assist in the management of interfaces with external operational entities supporting, monitoring and controlling of satellite systems e.g. ESAESOC, Sband ground station network providers, etc. Support the definition, design, development and testing of evolutions for existing mission control systems Participate in and, where appropriate, lead mission control systems operations preparation activities for the launch, commissioning and routine operations of recurrent spacecraft Support the definition, development and verification of mission control systems of future EUMETSAT and Copernicus satellite systems e.g. SCOS, EGOSCC Assist in the provision of training for operations team personnel. Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking a spacecraft operations Mission Planning Systems Software Engineer. Responsibilities As part of the Mission Control Applications Tools MCAT team at EUMETSAT, you will be responsible for supporting the evolution and maintenance of EUMETSATs mission planning systems. You will be primarily responsible for performing software engineering activities for the Meteosat Third Generation MTG mission which is currently in preparation. Overall, in the scope of the MTG mission, you will be responsible for scope Maintenance and evolution of the Mission Planning and Schedule Execution Components software, covering the all phases of the software lifecycle from analysis and requirements specification through to acceptance Integration and verification of Schedule Execution Components, including preparation of test procedures Providing support to operations test execution Typical activities to be undertaken include IVV Activities Support the integration, verification and validation testing of Mission Planning and Schedule execution software components Support the review and update of test specifications with respect to Mission Planning and Schedule execution aspects Support the generation and maintenance of test procedures including their automation and test datasets for the Mission Planning and Schedule Execution components Support formal test campaigns Support the analysis of test results and the generation update of the VCD inputs and test report Support to the anomaly NCR process generation, analysis, discussion, participation to ARB meetings, testing for correct implementation, etc. Support to the installation and configuration of new software deliveries System Architectural Design Support to the maintenance and evolution of the system level design of Mission Planning and Schedule Execution components General Participation to any necessary meetings technical reviews, scheduling meetings, progress meetings, coordination meetings, workshops, etc Generation and updating of technical documents and knowledge base information This is a fulltime position to be located at Eumetsats premises in Darmstadt with the planned start ASAP. Domain Skills Significant demonstrable experience in the definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of Mission Planning Systems in the context of space missions Experience in planning the scheduling of operations tasks using the Mission Planning System for GEO andor LEO space missions Experience in operational schedule execution for space missions 2. Software Integration, Verification Validation IVV Skills Significant demonstrable experience in IVV activities, preferably for Mission Planning Systems, following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plans and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test datasets and test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of VCDs, test reports and managementtracking of anomalies Experience in integration of Mission Planning Systems with Flight Dynamics and Schedule Execution Mission Control Systems 3. Software Technology Skills Experience in using DOORs for Requirements Management Practical experience with the LinuxUnix operating system user command level Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage to have experience with 4.
