Senior Mission Operations Control Software Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a leading provider of operational services, technical consultancy and hightech products as well as integrated solutions to the global satellite industry. In this role, you will have the following responsibilities Specify, design, evaluate, implement and test software and networking infrastructure required to support satellite control centers and satellite and hybrid communication systems Procure equipment, software and services necessary to build the infrastructure at customer premises and manage shipment Supervise specification, design, and development work necessary for project implementation, including project control functions Design and implement softwarecomputer infrastructure andor modifications to comply with specific customer requirements such as their standards, interfaces and software and hardware technologies Interface customer and collect requirements for the setup of budgets, procurements, installation management and the operational handover of systems Coordinate with other functions Project Control, Legal, Finance for the transparent and effective realization of assigned project Travel internationally and meet directly with customers and vendors worldwide when required Define future technology requirements in close cooperation with sales and other group companies Followup technology development in the area of expertise and make recommendations regarding evolution of TechCom services and products Provide technical recommendations and expertise in the area of networking, communication protocols and network management Provide support to Sales department for the presales activities presales engineering Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent with experience in telecommunications andor computer science Minimum of 7 years experience in engineering of large, reliable, distributed client server applications and communication protocols Excellent knowledge of software specification, design, implementation, verification and validation Excellent knowledge of software and system engineering methodologies using SysML and UML Excellent knowledge of Service Oriented Architectures and in particular JBOSS Excellent programming skills in Java, Python, HTML, and JavaScript Sound knowledge of database management systems in particular PostgreSQL Sound knowledge of network design, deployment and operations Sound knowledge of network with emphasis on TCPIP running over different physical media Knowledge of software practices and standards such as ITIL and ECSS Knowledge of the satellite technologies and satellite based communication Familiar with workflow management systems and business process modeling based on BPMN 2.0 Personal skills communication skills, analytical sense, coordination and priority setting facilities, problem perception, assessment and solving, autonomy and team work, flexibility and mobility Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage. For a project in Noordwijk, NL we are looking for an Earth Observation Mission Analysis Engineer fm at ESTEC. Tasks The Earth observation data analysis engineer is expected to support projects can be during any phase andor programmes for studies on new concepts. The specific activities may relate to simulations and analysis of observations and products, to Level 1b andor Level 2 product and algorithm aspects and to data analysis for validation and mission performance during phase E of an Earth observation mission. The specific analysis can be related to satellite or dedicated suborbital mission campaign concepts. The contractor shall support the SMOS mission scientist, the SMOS mission manager, and the STSE program manager. The SMOS specific tasks include Support the exploitation studies funded through the SMOS project. This includes the contract with ECMWF on data assimilation. Support the preparation of SMOS publications and presentations. Support the implementation of new studies related to the SMOS mission. Support the analysis of SVRT results obtained over oceans and DOMEC. Support future work on the SMOS L2 ocean salinity processor. The STSE specific tasks include 1. Support to EOPSM a. Support to the preparation of the next call for proposals in collaboration with CCI c. Prepare new Springer Briefs volume dedicated to the second call d. Prepare updated brochure for the three calls e. Update the web with the project results and the new projects Essential requirements The Key person shall have, as mandatory, the following experience and background The contractor shall be a senior scientistengineer holding a PhD in geophysical sciences e.g. oceanography, meteorology, physics, mathematics or engineering with a strong background in satellite remote sensing using Lband radiometry. This includes handson experience with SMOS L1 and L2 data processing and a good knowledge of the corresponding application areas. Knowledge of and experience with the STSE programme is mandatory. Technical skills shall include programming and a good knowledge of relevant software packages. The applicant shall be able to work both autonomously and as a part of a team. A good knowledge of the English language is expected.
