EndtoEnd SAR Mission Performance Engineer

Specific Tasks The Contractor shall support Earth Explorer 7 endtoend SAR mission performance assessments during the PhaseA studies of the CoreH2O and BIOMASS mission concepts. Specifically these tasks will include The development and implementation of endtoend SAR performance methods and generation of technical reports to guide mission evaluation and tradeoff studies. Support to the BIOMASS and CoreH2O EndtoEnd Mission Performance Simulator activities initiated during PhaseA including i the evaluation of the contractual deliverables generated by these activities ii the development and implementation of acceptance tests and test scenarios and iii review of documentation including software design, development and validation plans. Support to BIOMASS and CoreH2O scientific support studies initiated during PhaseA including testing of software modules deliverables and evaluation of their suitability for integration into EndtoEnd Mission Performance Simulator activity. Testing of OpenSF software framework implementation which provides the software architecture for the EE7 Mission Performance Simulator. Evaluation of SAR campaign deliverables, extraction of information and generation of technical data as required to support the above tasks. Specific Competence Requirements Applicants should hold a University Degree in a physical science or engineering and have a strong background in the development and implementation of endtoend SAR performance methods. This includes experience in SAR signal processing, electromagnetic modelling, SAR level1 data quality assessment and mathematical algorithms to generate geophysical products at level2 and higher. Technical skills in programming, data processing and analysis are required. The applicant shall be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. A good knowledge of the English language is expected. Software Engineer for Mission Planning Support 1313039 Job Description The work involves maintenance and development activities. The Mission Planning Facility is used at present in routine operations phases for the EPS programme, it will be used in the future mission Copernicus Sentinel3, and it might also be used in other future missions such as EPS Second Generation EPSSG. The key person shall work as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Function systems and tools for GEO and LEO missions. In particular the following systems and tools Monitoring and Control Systems and tools. Onboard software management tools. Flight Dynamics Facilities. Mission Planning Facilities. OpsPrep Facilities. Evolutions and changes generation and analysis of userdriven and maintenance driven software requirements, design, following procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level, development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Automatic verification testing analysis and implementation of mechanisms allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the software facilities. Installation and verification testing of new software releases or patches preparation and participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns, coordination of the installation of new releases or patches onsite and running the onsite verification testing at facility and system level. Software engineering methodology Analysis activities focused on a common software engineering methodology and common software engineering tools for the GSI Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. Development of tools supporting these common software engineering methodologies. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Training prepare and provide training covering endusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control facilities. As Software Engineer for mission planning support, the key responsibility will be to provide support to the engineering and maintenance of the Mission Planning facility, whilst providing some software engineering support to the rest of the facilities under the responsibility of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. The successful candidate will be educated to a minimum of degree level in a relevant discipline and shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software development. A minimum of 5 years experience in software development and maintenance using a formal life cycle resulting in deliveries to customers is essential, along with a minimum of 5 years experience in AssemblyIntegrationVerification related activities. All applicants shall have extensive experience in designing and developing software components and applications using Java under UNIX operating systems, designing and developing software components and all applications using Object Oriented approach including design patterns, designing and developing software applications using C under UNIX operating systems, designing and developing software client applications using Eclipse as HMI framework, developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with RDBMS engineering. Relevant experience in the usage of CASE design tools is also essential. All candidates shall have a very good knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications alongside experience with documentation management systems, configuration Management and anomaly reporting and tracking tools.
