Europes Meteorological Satellite Organisation EUMETSAT is seeking a Mission Operations Facility Engineer looking to utilise and develop their existing knowledge and experience in an international environment. The key candidate shall be responsible for all engineering activities associated with the procurement and testing of the Mission Operations Facility and supporting its integration into the MTG Ground Segment, under the supervision of the MTG Mission Operations Facility Manager. Candidates require the following skillsexperience Solid experience with design, development and maintenance of satellite mission operations systems. Demonstrated experience in the management of industrial contracts preferably in the field of mission operations systems. Extensive experience in development or maintenance of Mission Control software using SCOS2000 Proficiency and experience in the use of relevant standards such as CCSDS and ECSS Strength in analysis, synthesis and presentations of complex problems and solutions Familiarity with mission operations systems in a 247 operational environment. Knowledgeexperience in any of the following areas would be considered advantageous Familiarity with satellite simulators Experience in the development or maintenance of other relevant software e.g Flight Dynamics, Mission Planning software, automation software Experience in full ground segment lifecycle support, including launch and commissioning preparations. All applicants must have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline along with experience leading a small technical team. Applicants must be EUMETSAT member state nationals with a good working knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. Summary of the role Start date 01.01.2017 The area of responsibility for this role is for Data Systems Operations Engineering, covering the areas of the following two Mission Data Systems MDS Sentinels Mission Control Systems Engineering support Sentinels Simulators Engineering support Initially this role will be fully dedicated the Sentinels MCS Engineering support, however it should not be excluded that at a later stage tasks related to the Sentinels Simulators Engineering support may be included. Key Responsibilities Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users Definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches Coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems Participation in the testing and validation of the various infrastructure elements used by the Sentinels MDS as well as definition of the future evolution of these systems Collaboration with other missions to ensure crossmission consistency and harmonization between Sentinel and other missions MDS systems, spinin from other missions into the Sentinel MDS and spinout from the Sentinel system to future systems including, but not limited to, future Sentinel missions The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. Requirements Good knowledge of Mission Control Systems for Earth Observation satellites and the EO MCS Kernelin working arrangements and the ability to apply initiative and creativity in the execution of tasks.
