The Earth, Navigation and Science directorate ENS undertakes the design and production of Earth Observation, Navigation Science satellites systems. Some of ENS current projects are NovaSARS, a Synthetic Aperture RADAR satellite system, Galileo, a Global Navigation Satellite System and MetOp Second Generation, a major meteorological mission. The ENS ground systems group requires a bright, enthusiastic and talented graduate engineer with a strong interest in systems engineering and the ability to learn rapidly. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide spectrum of projects within ENS. The role requires an engineer who is able to quickly understand the scientific and mathematical content within a project and be able to translate this understanding into algorithmic implementations. A high attention to detail is essential. Main activities of the role may include Requirements analysis and system design for complex systems Software development Modelling scientific processes using Matlab or equivalent modelling tool Generate engineering lifecycle artefacts such as formal test procedures and test results in line with the agreed engineering process and perform duties to support the engineering process Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a project context Support to satellite operations As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate the following Essential attributes At minimum, a 21 degree or equivalent qualification in Physics, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Aerospace Engineering or related subject. Understanding of system engineering design principles Experience of complex algorithm implementation Strong IT skills including software development Evidence of strong interest in systems engineering and the space industry Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Be proactive and comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team. Desirable attributes Experience of system modelling e.g. UMLSysML Experience of scientific research Matlab or equivalent numerical processing language Programming languages CCJava UnixLinux Operating system familiarity Scripting languages e.g. shell scripts, perl, python etc Understanding of communications systems This role will be based in Portsmouth and will receive the full Airbus Defence Space Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of 27,000, plus a welcome payment of 2,000. As the European specialist in cyber security, the mission of Airbus Cyber Security business is to protect governments, companies and critical infrastructures from cyber threats. Its trusted, high performance security products and services are able to detect, analyse and counter the most advanced cyberattacks. As a graduate you will experience and be part of the teams that deliver these services by rotating within our design, transition and operational departments. The main activities of this role will include 1. Service Design Receive practical hands on training where you will work alongside our technical designers to design cyber solutions. You will cover the technical, process, organisational and cost modelling aspects of this role. 2. Service Transition Here you will work alongside our transition technical team, this will involve you getting your hands on building and testing the Cyber infrastructure prior to it migrating to customer sites and the Airbus Security Operations Centre. 3. Service Operations Performing initial triageidentification of Cyber Security Events of Interest using the Secure Operation Centre SOC toolset. Escalating and assisting with the investigation of identified Events of Interest. Ensuring that all incidents, alerts and exceptions are responded to in accordance with established. procedures SOC Operations. Assisting with 3rd Line malware investigation, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Assisting with preemptive threat hunting and reactive technical investigation work. As part of the Software Engineering team within Airbus Defence and Space Cyber Security UK you will be developing new cryptographic devices and key management systems to protect critically sensitive national and commercial information. You will have opportunity to grow your skills in both embedded software development and in Windows application software development to meet the demanding standards set by the UK National Cyber Security Centre. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle for bespoke cryptographic products, in collaboration with systems, hardware, FPGA and verification engineers.
