Our graduate opportunity will be working within the global IM Team, responsible for the complete end to end operational IT for the Intelligence business within the UK, from end user, through infrastructure, security, to back office systems. The role will cover sites in Newcastle, Guildford, Leicester and Newport, with the opportunity to travel and work in other areas of the business worldwide. Other responsibilities include supporting the commercial side of the business in delivering solutions to customers. The successful graduate will join a small team of experienced Consultant Systems Engineers and Analysts who are primality focused on UK Military Satellite Communications Services and Systems. This team has been key to the successful delivery and operation of the current Skynet 5 system, and is now providing the technical and analytical leadership for the next generation SKYNET 6 programme. The role of the Service Delivery Graduate will be based in the Airbus Defence and Space Satellite Communications UK Government Service Delivery department at the Skynet Main Operations Centre, Corsham, Wiltshire. The Service Delivery team are responsible for the provision of global fixed and mobile satellite communication services to military, government and civilian organisations. The UK MOD is our key customer, a large proportion of our delivery is focused on the provision of mission critical, secure, operational communications services to military headquarters and personnel deployed across the globe. Service Operations Responsible for the day to day delivery of services across the Skynet satellite and ground infrastructure, this includes working closely with the customer through the planning phase ensuring that new activations are fulfilled successfully through the network on time. Dealing with network or service incidents proactively to ensure a high quality level of service is delivered to the end users. Analysing network capacity data to ensure that all current and future demands are able to be delivered. At minimum, a 21 degree or equivalent qualification in Telecommunications, IT Service Management or related subject. Interest in a career in telecommunications and service delivery. An understanding of networks. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Excel. High attention to detail with the ability to take a systematic, logical and critical approach to work. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good problem solving skills. An understanding of satellite communications is desirable. Knowledge of business finance financial information is advantageous. The role of Graduate Systems engineer is based in the Terminals Engineering Group approx. 20 engineers which is responsible for the research of and the subsequent design, development and support to the creation of stateoftheart Satellite Terminals technologies. To reflect this breadth, the groups remit is equally wideranging enabling the successful candidate to become proficient in many technical and nontechnical areas that are the bedrock of a successful career.
