Parts, Materials and Processes Quality Engineer Launcher Key Tasks and Responsibilities As Parts, Materials and Processes Quality Engineer Launcher, you will have the following responsibilities PMP support of product and design assurance and engineering PMP management of subcontractors and suppliers Draw up, review and approval of documents e.g. qualification plans and reports for materials and processes Establishing and surveillance of the list of processes LP and materials LM Contribution to material and process selection Management of nonconformances NCRsalertswarning notes for materials and processes Analysis of nonquality problems for PMPs, search for solutions manage material expertise and investigations Contribution to internal change processes Contribution to obsolescence management, REACh and RoHS for materials and processes Contribution to treatment of EEEparts Electrical, Electronical and Electromechanical parts Declared Components List DCL Parts Approval Documents PAD Contribution to selection of procurement sources for PMP issues Review and approval of procurement specifications Conductance of regular PMP boards Processes classification standard, special, critical Supplier subcontractors management concerning Review and approval of PMP list, qualification plans and reports for materials and processes Management of PMP requirements in technical specifications Perform reviews e.g. MPCB Materials and Processes Control Board Nonconformances of materials and processes. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Masters degree in Material Science or relevant engineering discipline Relevant experience in PMP is an advantage Experience in the field of metallic materials esp. high temperature alloys, nickel alloys, lightweight materialsAl, Ti Knowledge of SAP Fluency in English is mandatory proficiency in German is an advantage. Environmental Effects Testing for Materials Engineer 1611059 Job Description We are looking for an Environmental Effects Testing Materials Engineer for our client ESTEC. You will be part of the Product Assurance and Safety team and your tasks shall include Advanced materials testing with a main focus on space environmental materials testing activities. This includes vacuum, radiation, charged particles and neutral atmospheres and synergistic testing. Testing includes setting up test facilities, test procedures and execution of agreed test plans. Modifications of testing facilities as required by customer needs. Performing common materials analysis investigations like microscopic spectroscopic analysis and thermal analysis before and after space simulation. Performing surface and near surface sensitive characterisation of materials after space environmental simulation. This requires the operation of state of the art instruments like Raman, ESCA, NMR and ESR facilities. Design and perform nonstandard tests to meet special space project requirements as well as develop in situ analysis techniques. Traceability of test exposure conditions and follows the effect of the exposure on samples. Carrying out testing analysis in an ISO 17025 compliant manner including procedure and documentation development. Required Skills and Experience A university degree in materials science with a good working knowledge of materials process technology and a good understanding of physics Minimum two years of practical experience in a controlled test environment Be familiar with testing, monitoring data acquisition e.g. LABVIEW and controlling instruments Be able to work independently and have confidence to deal directly with customers, in person or by telephone. Summary An experienced and knowledgeable Materials Engineer is required to work onsite at ESTEC. Objective To support Product Assurance and Safety with Materials and process engineering. Responsibilities Duties This work package covers the following activities in a non exhaustive manner Testing of adhesive bonding systems and processes, including adhesives applications for metals and nonmetallic materials Selection of specific adhesives for specific end uses e.g. extreme temperature applications, integrity under thermal loads Performing general failure analysis of materials and assemblies with emphasis on adhesion issues Evaluation of surface treatments and its effects on bonding systems Longterm durability of adhesive joints Surface modification and analysis due to space environmental effects like atomic oxygen and plasma effects Performing materials qualification programmes for nonmetallic materials and analysis Stabilisation and degradation analysis of nonmetallic materials under space environmental conditions Producing clear and professional reports as specified for the task. Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. Specific tasks will include but will not be limited to Autonomously support project reviews for materials process approval incl. You will provide materials, mechanical parts and processes engineering support to product development and to business unit projects as required. You will contribute to the Materials and Processes team mission of assuring the quality of materials and processes used in Airbus Defence and Space products. This is a specialist position reporting to UK Space Systems Materials Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Act as the responsible materials engineer for one or more projectproduct teams, as necessary acting as the single contact point for the resolution of all materials and processes issues. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Materials discipline or Physics with postgraduate experience in a Materials Engineering environment. Must have experience working as a Materials Engineer preferably in the Aerospace Electronics environment. Must have knowledge or understanding of the Measurement and Analysis of Contamination and Cleanliness Control CCC in accordance with ECSS requirements. Experience in vacuum bake out, thermal vacuum testing and outgassing predictions. Indepth knowledge of ECSS, ISO and ASTM requirements would be desirable. Materials and processes knowledge in Composites Materials for Structural use. Failure investigation and other problems, RD into new materials and processes. Must have experience of supporting multiple engineering teams and suppliers Must have experience of problem resolution within an engineering environment Good interpersonal skills, communication and presentation capability.
