TASKS The Key person will carry out tasks which support activities typically related to Phase BC of a space programme in the area of system design engineering and architecture definition. The Key person will work within the Sentinel6JasonCS project, with potential support to other LEO programmes. The Key person will perform system engineering activities such as Requirements engineering, which consists in requirement analysis and validation, requirement allocation, and requirement maintenance Functional analysis and architecture design applying system modelling engineering methods and techniques Subsegment components specification Interface and data structures and flows definition Design, build and configuration which results in a physical architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics System analysis, which is performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness Performance of trade studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning. In the performance of these tasks, the Key person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The actual work will be released and defined in terms of scope, period, tasks, and deliverables in individual Work Packages. PROFILE The Key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. Knowledge and experience with the following is considered mandatory Extensive System Engineering life cycle experience for the development of remote sensing and Earth observation systems At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of systems engineering and architectural design ISO, Software development, and Space and Ground System engineering processes and standards. Experience in Model Based System engineering methods, techniques and tools Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. CORE Knowledge and experience with the following is considered an advantage Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Good knowledge of at least 2 of the following and an overview of the others Networking Communications, Ground Stations, Near RealTime Data Processing, Monitoring and control of satellites, Monitoring and control of ground systems Data communication networks and protocols. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The Key person shall be in possession of sound interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and with a minimum level of supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.
