Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester fiber prices have begun sharply falling in China, over a dramatic decline of PTA prices in the past two weeks. Market participants are expecting prices could further drop and have refrained from replenishing their stocks. Prices are still far above their initial level four months ago, before they have suddenly started surging. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton yarn prices have continued sharply falling in the last seven days on China's import market, as a result of the currency depreciation experienced in the past weeks in India and Vietnam. Domestic yarn prices are depressed by a low level of demand whereas the fall of polyester fiber prices will further pressure spun polyester and polyester-cotton prices. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Polyester fiber and yarn prices have stayed everywhere stable whereas the viscose market was similarly stable in China and India. Viscose prices have sharply rebounded in the past seven days in Pakistan, over a fall of the national currency resulting in higher import prices in rupee terms. In China by contrast, VSF prices have stayed stable once again, having been kept unchanged for a larger number of weeks.
