It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Senior Stress Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. You will independently complete all tasks required, in the allocated time, to demonstrate that the structure design meets its strength and stiffness requirements. You will lead major project with assistance. Limited signoff. You have complete knowledge of analysis methods and processes to lead an analysis team. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include To identify all strength and stiffness requirements and ensure that they are valid. To perform or supervise all structural analysis necessary to ensure that all strength and stiffness requirements are met with a minimum mass design. To ensure that the design incorporates all features necessary to meet the strength and stiffness requirements. To provide a detailed definition of all structural testing required to verify that the strength and stiffness requirements are met. To monitor these tests and issue a test assessment report that demonstrates that requirements have been met and that the pretest analysis was of sufficient accuracy. Write clear and concise strength summary reports demonstrating adequate strength margins for all significant possible modes of failure. Write other associated analysis documentation. Provide design support to manufacture to ensure that strength and stiffness requirements are met for all nonconformances to design with appropriate corrective action. To present strength and stiffness analyses and test requirements and assessments at formal design reviews. To prepare and maintain work plans, schedules, work package descriptions and costs. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or similar related discipline with working experience in the Space, Aerospace industry Strong experience in Stress Analysis, detailed stressing. Strong hand calculation experience for lightweight structures is mandatory for this role Good understanding of analysis techniques and methods for light weight structures strength and stiffness prediction Experience in Finite Element Analysis Ability to write clear and concise strength summary reports and other associated analysis documentation Able to establish and execute work plan and cost estimate, with assistance, for projects. We are looking to further enhance our team by Sentinel3 Data Processing System Senior Engineer You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks The Data Processing System engineers LO to L2, DFEP shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to our Clients Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release process and necessary evolutions, including the necessary coordination of the data processing systems engineering for the related interfaces with the rest of the Sentinel3 ground segment. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the daytoday operation and maintenance currently in the preparation phase, the analysis, and testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Key Persons will be the focal point when it comes to integrating the individual SW Facilities into a data processing system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including endtoend testing of the production system. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of specific monitoring tools for S3. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the S3 commissioning and initial operations phases. Your Profile The consultants shall have the following background 5 years experience in maintaining and engineering of evolutions of large scale software systems missioninstrument data processing related. Experience in software development lifecycles Software debugging and profiling tools e.g. GDB, DBX, IBM Purify, Valgrind Source code control systems, preferably Subversion and CVS Competence in SW testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation. And the following specific technical skills and experience Experience with production frameworks, job and resource management SW Performance analysis and improvement including Performance monitoring tools and techniques top, NMON, iostat, sar etc. in UNIX environments Networking technologies and tools CCSDS protocols, Space Data Link Protocols, TCPIP, UDP multicast, PGM, FTP, Wireshark Use of and application programming of relational database systems in particular ORACLE, INFORMIX, PostgreSQL and MySQL CCJava programming language experience in a UNIXLinux based environment Knowledge of Scripting languages Python, Perl, TclTk, shell Knowledge of web technologies, programming and markup languages e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript, XML and related technologies XPATH, SVG, etc. The official languages are English and French. This is a permanent position and will involve GPS Technology including VHDL implementation, GNSS signal tracking and GNSS remote sensing. Key tasks GNSS Receiver Engineering. Designing and implementing VHDL solutions. Design and implement GNSS solutions for signal tracking and GNSS remote sensing. Input to the GNSS team roadmap. Development and production of GNSS simulator scenarios. Development, enhancement and maintenance of products. Undertake requirements capture and design activities. Test planning, test and verification of the design. Interfacing with internal and external customers. Work within and ensure application of company processes. Support to the Galileo Payload team.
