Tasks The Meteosat Third Generation MTG programme was approved by the EUMETSAT Member States and is under development to continue and enhance the services of the EUMETSAT satellite systems from the geostationary orbit in the 2020 time frame. The MTG system foresees 4 satellites MTGI1 to MTGI4 for imaging missions and 2 satellites MTGS1 and MTGS2 for sounding missions flying in a constellation of two imaging and one sounding satellite, relevant launch and LEOP services, and the Ground Segment GS to provide mission control and data acquisition, processing and distribution. This Position is to porvide consultancy services to support GS and system integration, verification and validation IVV activities for MTGI1 and S1 satellites. EUMETSAT is responsible for IVV at Ground Segment and System levels. At a lower level, e.g. ground segment facility level, IVV activities are performed by the relevant contractors and results subject to review and acceptance by EUMETSAT. At Space Segment level, IVV activities are conducted by the space segment industrial consortium as part of the ESA MTG Programme for the protoflight MTGI1 and S1 satellites, and implemented in line with the relevant ESA EUMETSAT Cooperation Agreement. The bulk of ground segment and system IVV work is related to the integration and preparation of the Ground Segment GS and System for the launch, commissioning and operations of the MTGI1 and S1 satellites, nominally between 2016 and 2021. The following phases of MTG IVV need to be supported Integration of facilities and MMEs into the GS, by verification of relevant interfaces, followed by verification of GS requirements Integration of the GS with the Space Segment, the SAFs and the LEOP service by verification of relevant interfaces, followed by verification of system requirements System operational validation.
