ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY As the Communications Satellite Technician, Represented, you will provide firstlevel technical support for all customer service teleport operation, installation, and maintenance processes at the Woodbine earth station. You will be responsible for the monitoring, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance for satellite communications equipment at Earth Stations located throughout the Western Hemisphere. You will be responsible for maintaining service throughput for unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise line services, inflight internet, and several humanitarian missions. This is a union represented position. ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Communications Technician will communicate directly with customers and uplink operators. The technician will measure RF carriers and perform satellite carrier accesses at the SES Payload Management Operations Center PMOC in accordance with established access procedures. The technician will also document events and activities and troubleshoot satellite service anomalies. Verifying data collection on equipment usage and availability is accurate Verifying the backup functionality is active and takes actions to achieve this PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULTS AREAS Respond to any ground system anomaly that causes a payload communications outage or disturbance. Ensure spare equipment is immediately available on a global scale. Support for LEOP missions as well as onstation support Support of upcoming mPower and Microsoft projects Respond to any ground system anomaly that causes a TTC outage or disturbance. Restore the service with the least possible delay Respond to any ground system anomaly that causes an Orbit Determination outage or disturbance. Restore the service with the least possible delay. The NOC Technician will be part of an integrated team which provides 247 monitoring and control of Telemetry, Tracking and Command TTC stations of the ESTRACK ground station network, Operational IT and Operational Control Centre services at ESAs European Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany. The team, located in the ESOC Network Operations Centre, provides support using a variety of computer and network hardware and software. The NOC acts as the first point of contact for users, missionsprojects and second line support teams. Your main tasks and responsibilities as NOC Technician will include Liaise with spacecraft and mission operations engineers as well as staff on duty at other support units, ground stations and external Agencies to establish and continuously maintain a comprehensive overview on the availability of and the demand for utilization of resources provided by the ground segment facilities. Supervise and coordinate scheduled support activities. Monitor the progress of station configurations for satellite passes through voice coordination or remote monitoring systems. Provide 1st line computer and network support to all eligible users including incident, problem, change request and user requestcomplaints handling. Actively monitor all operational IT systems, applications and networks and react immediately on potential issues or outages by Logging and escalating incident tickets according to procedure Identify the impacted servicesusers and inform all relevant parties Initiate incident resolution or mitigating actions to restore the service asap Call outescalate to 2nd line support or external providers according to procedure Followup on incident resolutionprogress and inform interested parties of the status Prioritise work according to criticality of systems, schedules and targets.
