Software Development Engineer for Satellite Ground Segments Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Software Developing Team, you will have the following responsibilities Implementation of test software for integration and systemtests Implementation of supporting test tools, e.g. test data generators Creation compilation of data sets for testing JSON, XML, binary, tele commands, telemetry data Extension of test procedures and manuals Transfer of test into a test management tool Inclusion of software in automation of test processes testing and Deployment Preparation and conduction of regression tests Junit, CppUnit or similar, Arquillian Support and performing of integration tests on different levels Recording and isolation of errors recording into a bugtracker Support and further development of deployment strategy and its automation Support setup of integration environments. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in Informatics or Engineering Experience in the field of satellite ground segments mission planning, workflow management Java 8 and Java EE 7 mandatory Knowledge of shell scripting in Linux and scripting languages mandatory, e.g. Python Knowledge of test frameworks like JUnit, Arquillian Knowledge in RESTful architectures and web technologies Knowledge in development environments and tools like NetBeans, GIT, Jenkins, Gradle, Stash, Jira IT security would be an asset Fluency in English, German would be an asset. A vacancy for a Junior RF Systems Engineer Military Satellite has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Portsmouth. A position is open within the Military Payload System Engineering department of the Telecom Business Division of Airbus Defence and Space. This role would be suitable for a candidate in Early Career as an introduction into this dynamic and innovative business area. Our business designs and manufactures spacecraft. Our processes focus on delivering a product which has to withstand the harshest of all environments, and our communication payloads must operate with high levels of reliability in the most extreme conditions, pushing materials and technology to their very limits. This role is an opportunity to approach system engineering in a unique context, where you will be able to learn and extend your capabilities in a multidisciplinary working environment. The position is based on Portsmouth site which is Airbus Centre of Excellence for Telecom payloads. The position being open in the specific area of military missions, it provides a unique insight into the design, analysis, integration and delivery of a state of the art secured endtoend communication system. This includes the telecom payload, but the role will also provide an insight into antenna, platform and spacecraft considerations and also into ground segment elements. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Perform RF analyses of payload performances as part of an integrated project team. Support the mission through the payload project lifecycle, in particular with the preparation and presentation to the customer at the occasion of the projects gate reviews Support the Assembly Integration and test phases, first at payload level, and then at spacecraft level for environmental tests for instance Take part to the analysis of the test results, working handinhand with the Assembly, Integration and Test operations team working in clean room environment lead investigations, address noncompliance and present results reports to the customer Throughout the project lifecycle, work handinhand with other engineering teams of the business division equipment mechanical systems electrical systems EMC etc. Support the equipment level test results review Work at transverse level with other groups such as the Mechanical Design Office, Purchasing, equipment suppliers and Assembly and Integration Test teams. As more experience is gained on project, the role will evolve and offer the opportunity to take additional responsibilities such as Support the design processes of a telecom payload Take part to the definition of payload equipment specifications Analysis of payload system architecture Take part to the continuous improvement of our payload modelling tools and analysis tools Support the project team at transverse level and contribute to work outside of the strict perimeter of the repeater including antennas, platform spacecraft ground segment Support RD activities in the area of defence and security Support payload proposals activities for military missions We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Relevant degree disciplines A degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronic engineering, mathematics or physics Relevant degree modules Modules related to RFmicrowaveradio communications Some academic background or knowledge in the following domains would be a plus o Microwave high frequency RF engineering o Knowledge of Satellite Communications systems o Digital signal processing o Active antenna systems o An understanding of equipment fitted to the Satellite payload such as receivers, converters, amplifiers, waveguides and antennas o Modulation and coding schemes o Engineering life cycles and equipmentsystempayload or environmental testing o Quality standards Technical IT Behavioural Language skills required Basic knowledge of computer programming Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel Experience with modelling tools such as Matlab Simulink SystemVue ADS etc. would be a plus Experience required e.g. work experience clubs societies charity work hobbies etc. Academic background supported by pre post graduate experience gained through internship or research projects Any experience involving utilisation of RF instruments, test equipment test techniques will be desirable. Experience of working within an environment controlled strictly through an established quality system Previous industrial experience is not mandatory, but demonstration of the desire to work in the Space Industry is essential.
