Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Technical support to the assessment and verification of the instruments endtoend performances Analysis of the Ground Processor Prototype GPP and Instrument Data Simulator IDS requirements Monitoring of the development of GPP and IDS of the related instruments, including payload common parts Review of the GPP and IDS InputOutput Design Specifications Support to EUMETSAT documentation review L1b products specifications, L1b Algorithms Theoretical Baseline Documentation, ATBD Review of Characterisation, Calibration and InOrbit Verification Plans Review of instrument performance models, instrument radiometricgeometric models Improvement and maintenance of performance and data processing tools models, performances, budgets Participation to Project reviews Assessment of noncompliances and RFDsRFWs related to instrument performances Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree masters or equivalent qualification in instruments performance and data processing with a background in microwave radiometer instruments for remote sensing. Good understanding of the overall instruments, including background in modelling of the observation techniques, endtoend performance estimation, level1b processing and instrument characterisation. Good familiarity with computer programs such as Excel, Matlab, etc. The following skills would be highly desirable Experience with Microwave Radiometers data processing, instrument modelling and experience in instrument development is an asset. Senior Image Data Processing Earth Observation Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities In the frame of MTG Meteosat Third Generation program, the nextgeneration European operational geostationary meteorological satellite system a collaborative EUMETSATESA program a software simulator PDG for generating the measurement and auxiliary data from each major MTG instrument shall be established. The Payload Data Generator PDG is intended to support the EUMETSAT Ground Segment EUM GS development in particular the verification and validation of the Instrument Data Processing Facility IDPF. Beyond that further SW development activities are planned regarding MTG subsystem simulation and ground segment data processing of the postEPS ground segment As part of the team, you will have the following responsibilities Responsible for the Software Development of the PDG In particular will be in charge of the analysis, coding and testing of algorithms described in textual form, andor by equations and with parameter data lists mainly simulating the impact of the overall MTG data acquisition chain encompassing the geometric, radiometric and spectral deformations, but also a few other processing like spatial resamplingremapping and data fusion functions which aim at adapting the sampling and map projection of external data to be prepared for the MTG instrument data generation Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification of the PDG Documentation Detailed Design, Test ProceduresReports, User Manual Being able to use the Payload Data Generator PDG, e.g. for user support and training Planning, preparation and conduction of the SW development for processing prototypes and operational processors for the postEPS ground software Support to SW development for MTG subsystem simulation. Skills Experience Degree in aerospace engineering or other relevant domain Knowledge of principles of typical Earth Observation instruments and spacecraft Good image data processing skills Good level of software development experience with the C and Python languages Good knowledge of mathematics to be able to understand algorithms necessary Fluency in English is mandatory.
