This site is primarily responsible for manufacturing space propulsion systems and satellite subsystems for telecommunications, navigation and Earth observation, for example satellite attitude control systems and solar arrays. Job Description For one of our clients we are looking for an Optical Verification Test Engineer for their location near Munich. This role is to support the optical instrument projects in the field of engineering and technical procurement of optical ground support equipment and metrology tools. Main tasks involve performing optical tests and measurements in the context of the verification of instruments and critical technologies in the optics laboratory. Tasks and Responsibilities Support to engineering activities during AIVT phases focus on optical ground support equipment OGSE and metrology tools in collaboration coordination with other AIT activities Optical test operations Assembly of test setups for optical tests eg wave front error, polarization, stray light, etc. OGSE and optical metrology operations during instrument assembly integration test AIT campaigns Modification adaptation of existing software and tools as required for optical tests Execution of optical tests using the optics laboratory facilities, including thermalvacuum chambers Evaluation and reporting of test data. Requirements Bachelors degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, Engineering, Technical studies, Geoinformatics At least 3 years of experience in optical test operations is required Knowledge in usage of laser trackers and theodolites as well as application of coordinate transformations is desired Experience in inspection software eg PolyWorks, SpatialAnalyzer is essential Experience with LabView, Python, Matlab is a plus Experience with MS Excel Fluency in English and German Willingness for business trips within Europe Willingness of shift work on occasion Ability to communicate constructively and effectively. The expertise group Instrument Science has a vacancy for an Optical Instrument scientist fm Vac. nr. 1510 You will be part of the Instrument Science Group where optical experts contribute to space instruments ranging from Earth Observation and Exoplanet characterization in the visible and near infrared wavelength bands, to cryogenically cooled instruments for astrophysics in the far infrared. Project Within the climate and air quality program of SRON, you will work on the development of novel optical instrumentation for Earth Observation. Your responsibility will be in conceptual design and shadow engineering of detailed design of space spectrometers and polarimeters. Furthermore you will develop test setups and perform the calibration onground and inorbit of these optical instruments. You will work in a diverse team together with space industry and knowledge institute team members.
