As part of the Advanced Systems Engineering Group, the Systems Engineering Specialist will be responsible for the following Design end to end systems at all satellite bands using advanced ground segment technologies to provide fixed and mobile broadband services Provide systems engineering expertise for the design of communications payloads Analyze efficiencies of advanced satellite payloads using spot beams for both bent pipe and processor based architectures in geostationary and nongeostationary orbits Recommend improvements to system engineering software tools Support Telesat new satellite programs and external customers requesting technical advice Lead multidisciplinary project teams and provide technical guidance to other engineers and technical specialists Education and Experience Required Masters or PHD Degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in microwaves and communications Minimum of 9 years of practical industry experience in communications systems engineering Experience performing endtoend communications system analysis entailing indepth understanding of the interrelationships between technology, performance, applications and costs Experience with multispot beam satellites design Knowledge of satellite onboard channelizers and multiport amplifiers Knowledge of geo and non geo constellations Expert using software tools such as Mathlab, SatSoft, ECM, Complan and Satmaster. Knowledge of frequency coordination and regulatory constraints to minimize the effects of impairment allocations of the link performance Expert in transponder loading and capacity management Experience with end to end tests of communication systems Strong technical, presentation, interpersonal, written and communications skills Proficient with written and oral English Ability to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations for a nontechnical audience Exercises considerable attention to detail Demonstrates critical thinking of facts presented Other Requirements Canadian Controlled Goods CGP Clearance which requires a Criminal Record Name Check United States International Traffic in Arms Regulations ITAR approved by the United States Department of State for access to controlled technical data andor hardware If you are interested in this opportunity, please visit our website at www.telesat.com and submit your application online.

TASKS The main tasks of the key person shall include Maintenance and development of the Data Processing SystemsApplication Software Support to procurement activities for maintenance and evolution activities, such as specification and maintenance of requirements for new or enhanced Data Processing SystemsApplications Software components that are going to be implemented by external contractors monitor their detailed design and implementation generate the test plans, test specificationprocedures, perform the acceptance of the externally developed components, support the integration testing in the ground segment and the operational validation Contribute to the definition and design of architectures of data processing ground segments and their components, their interfaces, and the validation and verification methods Coordinationinputs to planning and preparation of releases Coordination with other EUMETSAT Teams andor contractor to prepare introduction of newupgraded components Generation and maintenance of technical baseline documentation Support the operations of existing data processing ground segments Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools required to fulfil them Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures Perform routine tasks in operational systems under configuration control such as Anomaly investigations, documentation and classification Participation in relevant Anomaly Review Boards Follow up of the delivery of SW resolutions for these anomalies Support to Configuration Management change control practices Support to building and distribution of application software releases and patches Verification of correct facility installation for the assigned facilities Support to the development, integration and configuration management of software developed by third parties, its installation, and configuration and testing Perform SW testing in a structured approach to verify that delivered SW is fulfilling the requirements or to demonstrate that problems have been corrected. PROFILE The key person is required to have A university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Experience in engineering of large, complex, realtime data processing systems, including requirements specification, design, software maintenance or development, formal software testing and system integration Experience in operating or maintaining software systems in a UNIX or LINUX based environment Experience in software build environments and tools e.g. IBM XL C and GCC compilers, make, automake, autoconf, RPM Experience in software debugging and profiling tools e.g. GDB, IBM Purify, Valgrind Experience with source code control systems e.g. primarily Subversion, Git Experience in CC programming language experience in a UNIX or LINUX based environment Experience with scripting languages e.g. Perl, shell Experience with analysis and processing of softwaregenerated reports and logfiles Experience with web technologies and programming e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript Experience with networking technologies and tools e.g. Space Data Link Protocols, TCPIP, UDP multicast, PGM, FTP, Wireshark Very good technical writing skills, in particular in the area of formal technical documentation, e.g. requirements specification and design documentation, test plans and procedures, maintenance procedures Fluency in English.
