(Telecompaper) The German Federal Network Agency said that EUR 2.1 billion was offered by the four bidders in the 103rd round of the 5G spectrum auction. In the 2 GHz frequency range, 1&1 bid the highest amount of up to EUR 114.9 million, followed by Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone with up to EUR 109.2 million each. Telefonica offered up to EUR 67 million for one block, the lowest amount in the round.

Cellnex eyeing takeover of France's TDF for EUR 3 bln - report

(Telecompaper) Spanish infrastructure operator Cellnex Telecom is planning to consolidate its leadership of the European towers market by acquiring a 60 percent controlling stake in France's TDF Infraestructure for around EUR 3 billion, according to unnamed financial sources cited by business daily Expansion. Cellnex is already present in France through its various deals with Bouygues Telecom and will be managing around 5,000 sites including new tower builds by 2022. TDF currently has a portfolio of some 13,900 sites, half of which are broadcasting towers and the rest mobile towers.

Google hit with EUR 1.5 bln fine by EU for AdSense search competition abuse

(Telecompaper) Google has received its third multi-billion-euro fine from the European Union for anti-competitive practices. The company was fined EUR 1.49 billion for abusing its dominance in the search intermediary market with its AdSense for Search product for advertising on third-party websites offering search engines. The Commission said restrictive clauses in the AdSense contracts prevented Google's rivals from placing their search adverts on these websites.
