About The Role We now have an opportunity for a talented business development manager to join our welldeveloped team of business development professionals, with a focus on STFCs RAL Space department. Being part of RAL Space you will be involved in almost every aspect of the growing global space sector and a critical part of our future plans. Further responsibilities will include accountability for the full lifecycle of RAL Space opportunities for around 50 of the organisation, focussed on domains including Earth Observation and Space Science gaining a strategic awareness of grand challenges and technical gaps across diverse sectors and matching them to STFC RAL Spaces knowledge products, services and facilities identifying and connecting with collaborators and customers to deliver impactful solutions with two way benefits providing handson assistance to Bid Teams to help drive forward science, technology and mission proposals coordinating, manage business cases, writing exploitation plans following RAL Space governance process to ensure the best solution is arrived at on impact, quality and cost maintaining accurate records of your accounts, leads and opportunities through the CRM platform reporting on and presenting progress to the RAL Space Head of Business Development and STFC Director of Space, Innovation and Business Development. About You You will have a good degree or higher in a physical science or engineering discipline, with some knowledge of its application to space science and industry. You should have experience of working in a scienceengineering technical domain, as a scientistengineer or business developmentsales professional, along with experience of coordinating andor writing successful proposals. You will have excellent commercial, financial and business acumen, along with at least a basic understanding of sales pipeline management and marketing. You will have excellent motivation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with customers, partners, suppliers and colleagues and the ability to explain technical concepts effectively. You will also have a demonstrable network of relevant contacts. Further desirable skillsknowledgeexperience knowledge of the spacecraft industry and one or more of the following areas spacecraft systems, earth observation, space science, exploration and robotics, scientific instrumentation, calibration and spectroscopy methods further education in business related subjects e.g. MBA project management qualifications e.g. APMP, PRINCE 2 membership of a relevant professional institution knowledge of early stage technology management, innovation management, marketing and IPR management. About The Role The RAL Space, Space Engineering Technology Division is recruiting Space Systems Engineers in order to support a growing number of ongoing and new programmes.
