ResponsibilitiesDuties You monitor and control all operational progress for Spacecraft related procedures, including applying the contingencyemergency procedures, as required. Execution of endtoend routine and contingency operations for the Satellites, to include Preparation, monitoring and remote control of the Spacecraft Monitoring of data, health check of the equipment, preparation and performance of operations following established procedure and verification of results Troubleshooting with help of procedures and preparation of reports. Close working relationship with ground segment QualificationsExperience A university degree in a Science or IT related discipline electronics, physics, computing, programming, process control, ground station operations, is preferred. Some experience of shift work would be an advantage, but not essential. Essential Skills A strong technical oriented background. Develop and maintain any small SW tool MSEXCEL, MSACCESS, Visual Basics that may be required for efficient and effective conduct of flight planning and preparation tasks. Applying configuration control procedures for documentation in use for all operational tasks and duties under their supervision. Responsibility for the transmission and tracking of operational instructions to the SPACON team and ensuring their compliance. Responsibility of the organisation, training and operational readiness of new and established controllers assigned to the mission. Participation to LEOPs and Simulation campaigns. Validate and maintain the NDIU systems for SVTs and LEOPs. Introduction and maintenance of appropriate working practises and procedures for routine and problem reporting, data analysis, recording and maintenance of system status, recording of operational activities. Collect information data regarding the execution of the mission and provide inputs for the various mission reports. Provide spacecraft control support in case of special operations where the SPACONs complement assigned to the mission is not in a position to cover the needs this task is expected to be necessary for very limited periods of time. Degree levelequivalent in Computer Science or Aerospace Engineering with significant software content or sufficient practical experience in the relevant field Good experience with office automation tools, including MSEXCEL and MSACCESS use of functions, queries, macros, reports, input forms, etc. Knowledge of the Linux environment including interactive shells, shell scripting and Python 3 Some programming experience Visual Basic andor SQLWeb development is beneficial. Spacecraft Operations Engineer Geostationary Satellite Systems

Thorn SDS is a part of the consortia currently providing spacecraft engineering services to EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites. We are searching for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to complement our team in Germany. Candidates must be excellent communicators in English with a passion for the Space Industry. The responsibilities of the service include the routine and special operations of operational METEOSAT spacecraft, continuous monitoring of spacecraft performance and the operations preparation of the next generation of geostationary spacecraft. In addition to a relevant university degree, team members are expected to have expertise across one or more subsystems METEOSAT, MTG or similar EO Payload would be ideal, thermal, power, TTC, knowledge of python programming and able to work seamlessly together with the rest of the team to ensure a level of competence is always available. Experience of Spacecraft Operations or Spacecraft Operations Preparation, preferably on Geostationary Earth Orbit GOE would be considered advantageous. The role will develop with the phases of the missions, so we are looking for engineers who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a fast paced environment. With experience of the full life cycle of spacecraft flight procedures, you must have carried out validation and testing, with relevant experience of low Earth orbit satellite operations. You will have worked on anomaly investigations and have developed appropriate programming skills. Juggling tasks and making the most of the resources available to you will be essential in this role. You will work with colleagues and partners, so you must be a team player with an ability to communicate complex ideas in a concise way.
