At Thorn SDS you are a big part of a small team. We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Spacecraft Operations Engineer to be based at our clients facility ESAESOC, Darmstadt. Once successful you will be primarily assigned to the Mars Exploration Operations Unit but will have opportunities to work on other missions within the Solar System and Explorations Missions Division. This is a fabulous opportunity for an individual with excellent communication skills in English, to work on a number of hugely interesting programmes. The scope of the role is wide ranging and includes Test Preparation and Execution FOP Preparation Mission Phase Definition Mission Phase execution including LEOP, commissioning, Mars Arrival and Surface operations Anomaly Handling, Mission Planning and Spacecraft Performance Analysis and Reporting. You should have experience in all of these areas. You should have applicable knowledge and experience across all Spacecraft Subsystems AOCS DH OBSM Power Thermal TTC Payload also have experience in Ground Segment development, improvement activities in support of flight operations and activities applicable to spacecraft operations. It is a key requirement that you are able to demonstrate your team player attributes ideally with experience of coordinating and interacting with other service providers in operations scenarios. The role will develop with the mission phases, and across different missions so we are looking for engineers who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a fastpaced environment, perhaps already familiar with the ESOC environment. With experience of the full lifecycle of spacecraft flight procedures, deep space missions and validation of ground segment systems you will ideally have carried out procedure creation, validation and simulations. You should also be familiar with SCOS2000, onboard software and MOIS.
