Package description Highly competitive salary Corporate Benefits Package Relocation Assistance if applicable Further information available from the Serco Europe Recruitment Team Main responsibilities This position may include, among others, the following tasks Operate on a 247 shift basis all or part of the mission control system, which may include parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment, as specified for each mission Depending on the mission assignment, during the prelaunch phase assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations. The successful candidate may be required to develop methods or tools to assist in the execution of the operations Depending on the mission assignment, Onconsole involvement in Mission Readiness Tests, System Validation Tests, simulations and Launch and Early Orbits Phase operations authorised by the Spacecraft Operations Manager, following established rules and procedures In case of ground or space segment anomaly take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingency emergency procedures approved for the mission to ensure spacecraft safety and the continuity of service provision to users Immediately inform the Spacecraft Operations Manager and or his her official deputy when a major or critical anomaly is detected, in accordance with the established procedures Participate to other operationsrelated activities small system development, procedures development or maintenance etc. upon request of the Team Leader Depending on the assignment, perform any of the abovementioned tasks either as a Shift SpaCon or as a Backup SpaCon, i.e. continuously training on more than one mission to be ready to replace any of the other Team Members at short notice, if need be. Ideal candidate The successful applicants should have a solid technical background and a degree at BSc level MSc would be preferred in a related subject such as Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics etc.. and a passion for satellite missions or space activities in general. Experience working with computer systems and PC literacy is required. Candidates should be ordered, disciplined and have an efficient thinking mind as the appointed person should feel comfortable in a strictly proceduredriven working environment. Due to the operational nature of the job, candidates shall be able to work in a calm and correct manner under conditions of stress and in almost full autonomy e.g. during night shifts. As the successful candidate could be part of a small Ops Team working on a 247 shift rotation pattern, team spirit is also essential to adapt to the sometimes unavoidable shortterm changes to the shift plan resulting from sickness or other exceptional circumstance, with the purpose of avoiding any service disruption and ensuring the satellite health. As official, recorded voice communications via voice loop between stations centres is part of the job, fluency in English is mandatory. Spacecraft Operations Engineer Geostationary Satellite Systems

We are searching for both junior and senior engineers to complement our team in Germany. Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem ADCSPropulsion United States Manassas, Virginia Your Job The ADCS Propulsion Section of the Satellite Engineering Department is responsible for the satellite attitude control and propulsion subsystems, including the onboard data handling and software related to those subsystems, across the growing SES fleet of GEO and MEO satellites. This position will be based out of the Manassas office, primarily focused on the MEO constellation. In this role, you will become part of a team that provides engineering and oncall support to the satellite operations control centers, performs satellite in orbit operations developments, ensures readiness for and execution of future satellite missions, such as O3b mPOWER, and provides engineering support to the SES satellite procurement field offices situated at the satellite manufacturers. Your Responsibilities Provide attitude dynamics, control and propulsion expertise to nominal and contingency operations of the satellite fleet. You will support daytoday inorbit operations including the development of nominal and contingency procedures as well as analysis tools related to satellite operations Provide oncall engineering support, react to contingencies and cope with real time situations for the attitude control and propulsion subsystems of the satellite fleet Monitor the ADCS and Propulsion subsystems to identify degraded performance, anticipate scenarios and take appropriate action. You will develop and maintain tools for evaluating and trending health to maximize satellite safety, availability and longevity Provide support to new satellite construction programs, including attending design reviews, unit acceptance reviews and satellite testing activities Prepare for the launch of new satellites, including participation to the orbit raising operations, in orbit testing, and development of the products required for the final in orbit operations Interface with the external satellite manufacturers in relation to the responsibilities of the section Contribute to a continuous effort to more effectively and efficiently manage the satellites in orbit, including process, monitoring, and data analysis improvements Continuously strive to be aware of relevant technological developments, their implementation, validation, and provide input to the technical evaluation of future satellite proposals Your Profile A Masters Degree in Engineering, with a specialization which includes dynamics and control systems. Proficiency with MATLAB andor Python programming language. A couple of years applicable professional experience in satellite engineering andor operations are desired, but not mandatory. Recent Graduate applications are welcome. A willingness to work and build presence within a team environment that includes remote management and team members situated at multiple SES sites. This requires a strong sense of initiative and a selfstarter attitude. Commitment to deadlines and willingness to meet the needs of a 24x7 oncall environment, which can require out of hours support.
