The key person will support the TSS Technical and Scientific Support Department as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division. The key person will provide hisher prime support to the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team and heshe will support Maintenance of the EUMETSAT CopernicusSentinel3 Mission Control Applications and MMEMon tools instantiation for Sentinel3 Requirements specification, design, development implementation, integration and verification of extensions including future obsolesces reengineering of Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Support to users in investigation andor handling in the operational usage of the Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Provide MCAT with strong software technologies expertise in the area of web applications The tasks of the key person will typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Engineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions as following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance of test plan and test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test plan and related test procedures at software level and at level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation in technical reviews, participation in factory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Technical Assessment and Review acting as technical experts heshe will support the coordination, assessment and review process for engineering artefacts and technical documentation produced in the scope of maintenance activities. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Ensure if specifically required operations continuity during critical periods by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software applications requirements definition, design, implementation, verification and maintenance. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas Software Engineering Maintenance Skills Experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of software application following formal software engineering processes Experience minimum 5 years definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of 247 applications based on java technologies within web based deployment Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. Software Technologies Skills Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implementing backend software applications using Servlet containers e.g. Tomcat, JBoss and Java programming languages for UNIXLinux operating systems Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implement web client applications using GWT and HTML 5 technologies javascript, CSS, HTML and javascript frameworks Experience minimum 2 years in designing and implementing applications based on Messaging Oriented Middleware and using ActiveMQ andor ZeroMQ as message brokers Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have knowledge andor experience with some of the following Maintenance Technical Management Skills Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT and XPath. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. Software Technology Skills Experience in using Unified Modelling Language UML for software design. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a UVN Product Development Support Consultant You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include Inhouse consultancy support is sought for the ongoing processor development activities in preparation for the future UVN instrument to be flown on MTGS. The key person will provide support within the Atmospheric Composition Team in the Remote Sensing and Products RSP Division, located in Darmstadt, Germany. Heshe will be fully integrated in the Atmospheric Composition Team and will interface with inhouse experts of various disciplines system, instruments, operations, science, and in particular members of the MTG Science and Instrument Teams. The tasks of the key person will include Provision of support to the development of algorithms for calibration of UVN level 0 data Provision of support to the development of an Instrument Data Simulator Taking into account the constraints imposed by the final goal of implementation of the products within an operational processing system Provision of support to the development of prototype software code for the purposes of testing and validation the algorithms developed Provision of support to the development of an instrument performance model based on specifications to be provided by industry Provision of support to the development of software for crosscalibration and validation activities Generation of test data required for the verification of the algorithm and products Provision of support to the generation of associated documentation including test data descriptions, Product Specification PS, technical reports etc Interfacing with Client experts as needed Collaboration with expert groups and the wider scientific community as appropriate Assessment of results from scientific studies Provision of support to operational level 2 processor development activities, for future level 2 product development for the UVN instrument. Your Profile The UVN Level 1 product development consultant shall have the experience and capability to fulfill the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision and have good interpersonal skills. Heshe shall be familiar with satellite instrument characteristics for Earth observation, in particular calibration and validation of moderate spectral resolution data in the UVVisibleNIR part of the spectrum. Heshe shall have the ability to write concise and comprehensive scientific and technical reports. In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the consultant shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in the field of remote sensing product data processing and analysis including at least 2 years of experience of UVVisibleNIR calibration and validation. Further the consultant shall have a solid background in software engineering. Specifically the consultant shall fulfill at least a significant subset of the following criteria Very good skills in a higher programming language e.g. Fortran, C Working with UNIX andor Linux operating systems Specification, design and coding of complex product processors Testing and verification of complex data processing systems Handling and processing of remote sensing data Experience in atmospheric remote sensing in the optical spectrum Ultraviolet to Near Infrared Experience with instrument calibration and characterization Familiarity with Earth observation systems in operational meteorology, atmospheric composition and climate monitoring both remote sensing and in situ systems Writing concise and comprehensive scientific and technical reports. We are currently looking for candidates to work in the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management onsite at ESTEC in the Mechanisms Engineering Department. You will lend support to the Agencys projects, technology research activities and evaluations of industrial contractors documentation and test verifications. Tasks and Responsibilities Fluid Structures, Vibroacoustic and Shock Modelling and Analysis You shall be responsible for the generation and setup of dynamic mathematical models for fluidstructure interaction effects, vibroacoustic and shock response for spacecraft, launchers and instruments of Agency funded projects using the Finite Element, the Boundary Element, and the Statistical Energy Analysis method where applicable, taking into account the specific objectives of such analyses for incompressible and compressible fluids. The above shall include but not be limited to tanks with without membranes, solar arrays, spacecraft subsystem and system models. Shall further perform the dynamic analysis modes, frequency transient acoustic responses shock responses, evaluate critically the results and issue relevant documentation covering all analysis steps Shall take into account the specific objectives of such analyses and where necessary nonlinear approaches shall be considered and specific solution sequences shall be developed Shall support the Agency in the definition and implementation of technology developments in this area aiming at enhancing relevant tools and methodologies Dynamic Test Data Analysis and Correlation You shall be responsible for the support to the Agency in operating analysis tools for the analysis of dynamic test data modal survey, frequency transient responses, shock responses for spacecraft launchers of Agency funded projects and comparison with analytical predictions Shall further perform where relevant modal identification of the test data, evaluate critically the results and make usage of these results for updating structural finite element models Shall perform where relevant, assessment of shock response data Shall take into account the specific objectives of such analyses and where necessary nonlinear approaches shall be considered and specific solution sequences shall be developed Shall issue relevant documentation covering all analysis steps. Where applicable you shall produce advanced reduced dynamic mathematical models Generation of Load Cases for Static and Dynamic Structural Dimensioning You shall be responsible for the generation and setup of load cases for static and dynamic structural analysis design and tests for Agency funded projects. Heshe shall make use of mathematical model responses, Launcher Coupled Analysis results, MultiBody Dynamics analysis tools, as well as test flight data and be familiar with spacecraft design practices. Heshe shall also evaluate critically the results and the loads and issue relevant documentation.
