The post holder will concentrate hisher activities on the following Design of electromechanical test instrumentation in coordination with colleagues of the Electronic Design Office. Support to the maintenance and upgrade of the virtual testing facilities available in the section e.g. Virtual share testing and Ray tracing optical model of the Large Space Simulator. Supporting projects for EMC throughout all phases with review, analysis and assessment of test results. Design and analysis of mechanical and electromechanical equipment for the environmental test facilities of the ESTEC Test Centre and the ESTEC laboratories, including Mechanical Ground Support Equipment MGSE. Support to the procurement of mechanical and electromechanical equipment for the ESTEC Test Centre, including the drafting of statement of work and technical specifications. Participation in design reviews, supervision of manufacturing and progress meetings. Support to Test Centre Customer and ESTEC laboratories for the definition and verification of test setup Support to the development and maintenance of the 3D CAD models of the ESTEC Test Centre facilities. Support to the ESTEC Test Centre investment, maintenance and study activities in the mechanical domain. Ideal candidate The successful candidate will bring a PhD or MSc in Mechanical engineering, as well as experience in these fields, and minimum 4 years of experience in the tasks similar to the ones described above. Additionally, the key person requires Understanding of IR measurements and handson capabilities in integrating and testing measurement systems. Proven knowledge and familiarity with CATIA and NASTRANPatran. The successful candidate will be responsible for endtoend design of optical subsystems as well as simulation development of optical systems from concept all the way through to manufacture.
