As support to the CSM Software Librarian team, the key person shall do maintenance of all current and future operational ground segments. The main duty is the maintenance of the asbuilt software build environments and the building, packaging and distribution of any software that can be built onsite. Furthermore the duties include a range of tasks, from support to the operation of the UNIX and Windowsbased ground segment facilities, to the analysis, evolution, testing and maintenance of software items. They also include the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. In particular the tasks will include Maintenance of the asbuilt software build environments Building, packaging and distribution of software releases and patches Support to programmers with respect to software build and development strategies Support the delivery of software externally developed its installation, configuration and testing Investigation into anomalies, their documentation and classification follow up of the delivery of SW corrections Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools to fulfil them writing of maintenance procedures Interfacing with external suppliers who are providing maintenance services for ground segment facilities PROFILE The key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline and shall have proven experience in the following skills and experiences for at least 5 years UnixLinux command line tools Software build environments and tools like autoconfautomake, make, ANT, Maven Version control systems like CVS, Subversion, ClearCase, git Various software packaging formats like RPM, PKG, LPP, tgz Scripting languages e.g. Shell, Perl, TclTk, Python Networking, distributed applications, and TCPIP services Centralized SW installation PXETFTP, NIM, AutoYast, kickstart, Jumpstart Basic UNIX System Administration CC programming languages Java programming language Change Management processes Practical knowledge in the following areas, as much as possible, will be an advantage Serena Dimensions CM Basic Windows System Administration MySQL, Oracle ECLIPSE or a similar IDE Formalised Software Testing MSAccess, Visual Basic programming FORTRAN programming The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Copernicus Software Librarian to work within the Computer and Storage Management CSM team at EUMETSAT. Tasks The EUMETSAT Technical and Scientific Support Department TSS is responsible for the maintenance and further development of current and future ground segments. Currently EUMETSAT operates the Sentinel3 S3, METEOSAT Transition Programme MTP space and ground satellite system, the METEOSAT Second Generation MSG and the EUMETSAT Polar System EPS space and ground satellite systems. The focus of routine operations at EUMETSAT is the provision, by effective utilisation of all elements of the space and ground systems, of timely and reliable operational services to the users. Within TSS, the Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division GSI is in charge of engineering, maintenance and upgrade of generic ground segment functions, services, infrastructure and tools in response to requirements of operational and future programmes. The CSM team Computer and Storage Management is responsible for maintaining the computers physical and virtual machines, their SW configuration and the various storage backend systems.The Key person shall provide support to the TSS Technical and Scientific Support Departments GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division, supporting all Copernicus Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations.
