Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester chain prices are now dropping across the board, in line with a sharp fall of crude oil prices in the last days. PTA and MEG have dropped in the last week, over weaker demand from downward fiber producers. Production levels are also falling at PTA plants in China. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Linen Fiber and Yarn Prices in China (Quarterly Report)

Linen fiber prices have begun recovering at the end of 2017, and have further risen in the three first months of 2018. Demand remains strong on the international market from Chinese spinners however confronted with excess capacities and price competition at home. India could now impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese linen yarns, in addition. Our report offers a comprehensive view of the international market prices, including China's flax fiber import prices and linen yarn and fabric export prices. China's import and export data in volume and value terms are also available for download on a monthly basis back to December 2012.
