Viscose prices have remained unchanged in the last week in China whereas rising in Pakistan. Spun yarn prices have moved into different directions in the two countries. The global viscose market is relatively depressed this year, and leading producer Lenzing has released lower results in the first quarter from record levels in 2017. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available. Polyester prices have moved into different directions in China, India and Pakistan in the past month. The surge of prices in Pakistan has not affected gross margins of domestic spinners whereas the yarn/fiber spread was further falling in India. Over the last 12-month period, margins have dropped in India whereas clearly rising in China. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

Polyester fiber prices are now rising on both the staple fiber and the filament yarn markets in China. Demand is anticipating higher prices later this year, due to the Iran crisis. The yarn/fiber spread however remains relatively low in India whereas much higher in Pakistan. Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester chain prices have stayed relatively stable in the last week, whatever the new rise of crude oil prices to a 4-year high. Polyester fiber prices were however bottoming out this Monday in China, over anticipations of higher material costs later this year. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
