Polyester prices have moved into different directions in China, India and Pakistan in the past month. The surge of prices in Pakistan has not affected gross margins of domestic spinners whereas the yarn/fiber spread was further falling in India. Over the last 12-month period, margins have dropped in India whereas clearly rising in China. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

Cotton yarn prices have been raised in India and Pakistan in April, allowing spinners to slightly improve their margins. The yarn/fiber spread however remains relatively low in India whereas much higher in Pakistan. Our monthly report compares cotton fiber and yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, offering a comprehensive view of the yarn/fiber spreads in the three countries. These gross margins of domestic spinners are displayed on a monthly basis with 10-year historical data available for download.

Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester chain prices have stayed relatively stable in the last week, whatever the new rise of crude oil prices to a 4-year high. Polyester fiber prices were however bottoming out this Monday in China, over anticipations of higher material costs later this year. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Asian Contract Prices (ACPs) are also available for the PX, PTA and MEG markets in Asia, with 5-year charts and downloadable historical data.

Polyester filament prices are now giving signs of weakness in China, back from the long May Day weekend, over a lack of demand from downstream filament weavers. PSF prices have slightly dropped in the last week, also reflecting a weaker activity at spinning mills. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.
