RHEA is currently recruiting a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to support a mission within Earth Observation Explorer Mission family at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. The primary areas of responsibility are the PowerThermalRF but it may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Software Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Review and assessment of Satellite documentation and support to the Space Segment development Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Ground Facilities Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Mission Management and Mission Planning Support Service Production of Project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test SVT Procedures, Reports and Participation in SVTs Participation in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and Mission Critical Operations General Flight Control Support Service Spacecraft Performance Analysis Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Spacecraft subsystem knowledgePower, thermal, RF, including software Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both speech and writing Coordination with other service providers in operations team player Interaction with other service providers in operations and other fields e.g. payload ground segment providers Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Ability to work independently The following skills would be highly desirable Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with ground station control processes and setup Familiarity with prelaunch development, integration and testing of ground and space segments Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites Familiarity with MOIS Familiarity with Ground station scheduling processes Ability to multitask and work in a flexible way How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level? Spacecraft Operations Engineer 1623128 Job Description We are looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to support our client ESA at ESOC in the areas of System Engineering including Platform and FDIR and Instruments altimetry, optical in support to the Earth Observation missions, as a member of the Flight Control Teams FCT. You will participate in the preoperational phases, including special operations i.e. LEOP, Commissioning, deorbiting.. and in testing campaigns Simulations, SVT, inflight tests. You will have the following responsibilities Support the SOM in the definition of requirements and in the validation, test and operation of the MCS, including the Mission Planning System. Support the SOM in the definition of requirements and in the validation, test and operation of the Simulator Support the SOM in the definition of requirements FOP in the volumes indicated by the SOM Support the SOM in FOS procurement, integration and tests Review of satellite documents LEOP and Commissioning operations support as required Required Skills and Experience Spacecraft Flight Operations knowledge, including FDIR, in particular for the Instruments Altimetry, Optical and overall view of the Spacecraft systems engineering Experience with Packet Utilisation Standard Experience in working in an operational environment Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including validation Experience with anomaly investigations Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Experience with low Earth orbit satellites operations, including experience in preparatory phase OPSPREP, special operations LEOP, Deorbiting campaign and preoperational phase Commissioning especially within the Sentinels missions Ability to work independently and with little supervision Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Capable of coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields.
