Analyst, Spacecraft Operations Ref SES0807 Region Europe Location Isle of Man Douglas Company SES Category Space Operations Position Staff Published 20160513 Context The Analyst, Spacecraft Operations is responsible for the operation of the backup Satellite Operations Centre SOC located at SES Satellite Leasing in the Isle of Man. Heshe will perform the orbital control of some satellites as well as coordinate the flyby of other satellites through SES fleet windows. Heshe must therefore have good knowledge as a technologist to understand the functioning of the satellites and the Satellite Control Facilities. As part of the newly developed SOC, the analyst will work closely with hisher peers located at the SES Head office in Betzdorf, Luxembourg. Responsibilities Operate backup SOC located at SES Satellite Leasing and in particular lead the following activities Ensure operability and updates of Spacecraft Operations SOC Lead investigation of SOC related issues Develop operational procedures of the SOC Liaise with Earth Station Engineering to ensure a safe operational configuration of all TTC stations Ensure availability of satellite telemetry and command capability Develop schedules, logs, forms, charts, graphs and other devices designed to provide thorough records Monitor the security of all Satellite Operations Systems at all SES locations using a security configuration management system and reportescalate any issue to Software Engineering Coordinate Flyby of other satellites through SES fleet windows. Ensure SES fleet information is uptodate Perform the stationkeeping of some SES satellites including orbit determination, manoeuvre, planning and computation, manoeuvre performance, analysis and calibration Provide outside office hours oncall service as required Experience Qualifications Bachelors degree in electronics, aeronautics or equivalent qualifications Demonstrated interest and capability in satellite operations and in IT security monitoring Knowledge and experience in IT security or satellite operations would be considered an advantage Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues and direct management Proficient with industry standard office computer software such as word processors, databases and spreadsheets Ability to work in a team and without direct supervision and error free in high stress situations Good planning, organizational, writing and reporting skills Ability to take the lead in problem solving situations Objective, rational and multidisciplinary thinking Permanent position based after training DouglasIsle of Man Requirement to work out of Betzdorf in Luxembourg initially for up to 3 months to enable training of Satellite Operations performance Flexibility towards working times and to travel up to 50 of the time Fluency in English although other languages are an advantage Ability to obtain security clearance Our Offer Competitive salary package, coupled with a diverse array of challenges and development benefits. You shall operate all or part of the mission system, which may incorporate parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment, as specified for each mission. The positions could cover prelaunch, launch and postlaunch activities.
