Airbus Defence and Space provides high valueadded solutions including satellite data acquisition, operational emergency planning systems, geoinformation creation, database management and outsourced hosting. A vacancy has arisen for a Technical Manager Geospatial Solutions with Airbus Defence and Space. This role is to be based in Farnborough Guildford facilities. The Technical Manager Geospatial Solutions will be proficient in GIS, in order to support the Thematic Hosted Services Group and other areas of the company business. The position will advise and lead the implementation of geospatial solutions for the Airbus DS GEOIntelligence business. The main role will be to support existing clients with usage, system and GIS related business requirements identification to generate appropriate solution design and to support in the implementation and management of GIS services. This role is a multidisciplinary one in Business Development Products and Services definition and Technical Design Coordination. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include To provide GIS expertise in the fields of hosting, data management, web delivery and GIS applications and sharing knowledge appropriately Using protocols, processes and standards found within Spatial Data Infrastructure SDI and Service Orientated Architecture SOA you will develop approaches to provide a basis for exploiting the groups capabilities in the delivery of geospatial solutions Use SDI principles to define the way the various components of a geospatial solution fit together in order to meet a business need Apply recognised best practice within the geospatial industry Advise Airbus DS on geospatial policy and development as and when requested Focus on the architecturally significant aspects of a design and identify areas of high risk Work closely with the client in order to identify their requirements and suggest appropriate solutions and architectural approach Develop, prepare and deliver Customer presentations workshops to demonstrate the Companys Technical Competence In partnership with the technical specialists within the Airbus Group seek to develop new and innovative solutions to current and future business and client needs Develop appropriate technical architectures for the dissemination and delivery to users of services so that the full value of the information can be exploited Deliver technical content to proposals, bids and quotes To represent the Company on project teams to ensure the best possible advice is given regarding the delivery and implementation of the GI Project Solution Generate own ideas and initiatives that capitalise on existing and prospective strengths both within Airbus entities and external partners to drive substantive, additional benefit to clients Seek to develop strong relationships with a number of key accounts based on technical capability Ability to provide out of hours technical support Effective resource planning and recruitment of staff within Thematic Hosting Carry out process reviews in conjunction with Technical Group Maintain effective communication across the business To actively promote quality management within the Thematic Hosting Group and work within the scope and guidelines of Airbus Defence Space Business Management System Responsible for the provision of expertise in Thematic Hosting for applications within the Company Coordination of bid resources and technical bid review Responsible for the technical development of all Thematic Hosting staff Resource planning, management and budgeting to match identified requirements Responsible for project work, technical management and staff supervision within a project framework for Thematic Hosting. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience A Masters degree in relevant subject or equivalent experiencetraining GIS, Software Engineering, Computer Science Previous technical Team Lead or Management experience A proven strong track record of GI Solution Delivery within a commercial environment Proven experience with SOA, ITIL, Geospatial standards OGC, WMS, WFS, etc., Web technologies, Development Tools Open Source or COTS, Database technology Oracle, Postgres, etc.. Good level of technical knowledge and experience in the use of Geospatial Data and Applications, including Database and Web technology Knowledge and experience of the Government sector would be an advantage Proven experience in Resource Coordination and Planning, Work Package Management, forward Load planning, Risk Management. Good track record of customer liaison A proven ability to communicate effectively to staff and management including the ability to deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences Conduct regular staff communication meetings for information dissemination Selfmotivating and be able to work as part of a team as well as working in an independent discipline. Configuration Manager

This is a permanent position, calling for at least 5 years experience conducting and implementing the Configuration Management of large scale, softwarecentred systems. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years. Candidates should ideally be available to start in Q4 2015. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English and fluency in English is essential. Tasks will include Managing documentation under configuration control according to agreed procedures and supporting the release of relevant configuration reports Act as the Secretary of Configuration Control Board meetings Follow up the change process with related action items Track versions of hardware and software items and documentation according to the evolution of the configured items Verify the hardware and software configuration status by performing configuration audits Maintain configuration management databases Support the drafting, review and update of Product and Documentation Trees, generate and maintain Configuration Item lists Support the drafting, reviews and update of Configuration Management Plans and related Working Practice and Procedures Support the definition and maintenance of Baselines at Programme, System and Ground Segment Levels Issue Configuration Status Accounting Reports Support the definition of Configuration Management Requirements Support technical reviews for Configuration Management aspects Support Design Reviews, coordinating the distribution of the datapackage to the reviewers, in coordination with the Information Management function. Contribute to the advertisement and continuous improvements of applicable CM processes, procedures, and guidelines. Document and perform validation testing on corporate CM tool releases Contribute to the provision of S.M.A.R.T. requirements for CM tool enhancements The key experience and attributes sought are University degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline Experience of at least 5 years conducting and implementing Configuration Management of large scale, softwarecentred systems in an operational environment, preferably for highavailability 24hday systems Very good understanding of project development life cycle methodologies Adequate knowledge and involvement in Configuration Management activities Proven knowledge and experience in specifying, reviewing and implementing Configuration Management plans, processes and working practices, or at least extensive experience in providing management support to programmes or projects in development Significant experience in project development methodologies Extensive knowledge and experience with configuration management tools e.g. Serena Dimensions CM, Jira or Clearcase or business process management tools electronic workflows Experience of software development on a medium or large size project Extensive knowledge and experience with process modelling tools and techniques Extensive knowledge and experience of a Configuration Management, Quality Assurance or Project Management standard e.g. ISO, ANSI, ECSS, CMMI Experience in planning, developing and implementing training or coaching sessions to users and stakeholders Knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous Quality assurance experience Space system project control Process modelling of largescale systems with a good understanding of project development life cycle methodologies Experience acquired in European or International space projects Administration of a configuration management or business process management tool SQL programming on Oracle or Sybase, and scripting languages such as Perl, python or vb.net S.M.A.R.T requirements, software testing methodology and tools Pactum was established in 1988 and provides space system services and recruitment consultancy to clients throughout the UK and across continental Europe.
