Junior Engineer, Integration and Test Luxembourg Betzdorf Role description summary The O3b mPOWER Test engineer will be responsible for testing in a lab environment of the systems and subsystems of the O3b mPOWER setup. The endtoend services of a MEO satellite constellation link are integrated and tested and require a thorough process of integration testing and validation. The system components integrated include an endtoend Modem Platform test environment, a MEO satellite link emulator environment and a resource allocation software dedicated for the link management of the system. After the lab test and validation phase, the test engineer will be responsible to migrate the system into an operational environment and ensure through an initial phase of live air testing the transition to operations of crucial systems. Primary responsibilities Key result areas Define Test plans and procedures for integration and validation plans of the overall endtoend communication system Review System design documentation for O3b mPOWER Participate in O3b mPOWER system reviews for the space segment, ground segment and service software projects Specify and setup a lab environment intended to become a full test setup for O3b mPOWER Review and comment the O3b mPOWER requirements, concepts of operation, interfaces and define accordingly the test plans Follow development and implementation work as expert resident software engineer at a software development company Ensure contract compliance and quality assurance of software development processes Follow critical tests throughout the software development process Automate the lab test environment to ensure testing can be executed in an efficient manner and repeated Work with an experienced team using agile methodologies Organize transmission live air satellite transmission test campaigns for terminals, resource allocation software and gateways and ground equipment Follow the IOTS in orbit tests of the O3b mPOWER system Organize integration validation tests of the operational software with other critical parts of the satellite operations software Automate the development cycle via continuous integration Create technical documentation and reports of the development process Keep uptodate with latest technologies Qualifications Experience Masters degree in an Engineering or Science discipline such as Aerospace engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Technology or a related scientificengineering fields. Basic practical work experience with satellite system concepts through internship, practical work at university or other Basic training or work experience with software development and integration and test environments, test plans and procedures for integration testing Basic training andor work experience of an electronic lab measurement equipment environment for high frequencies, analogue and digital electronic testing of systems Essential experience Knowledge of satellite communication systems, transmission standards, modulation and decoding techniques of satellite communication paths, satellite transmission standards Experience and knowledge of software development processes, integration and test procedures, unit testing, concepts of automated testing of software integrated systems Experience and knowledge basis of electronic development cycles and related integration and testing Basis of satellite systems and space segment operational concepts ConOps Highly desirable experience several of the following Software Quality assurance and management experience Knowledge and basic experience of Software testing methods Knowledge of testing procedure automation, and automated unit testing methodologies Experience with some basic software development through training and small projects Knowledge basis of agile methodologies for software development Experience with collaborating software development tools such as GITHUB and JIRA, SVN Experience with database techniques such as SQL for example Experience with Integrated Development Environment IDE ie Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc Experience in utilities programming, debuggers and debugging techniques Experience with virtualization techniques and operating systems.
