Spun polyester prices have continued falling in the last seven days in China, in line with a new decline of polyester staple fiber prices. Margins have improved at spinning mills, as yarn producers were slow in lowering their offers. Cotton and viscose spun yarn prices have remained rather unchanged in the meantime. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cotton yarn prices are slightly dropping in Pakistan, in line with a decline of cotton fiber prices, our Pakistan correspondent reports. Prices are however expected staying relatively firm in the coming period in line with a rebound of domestic demand from spinners. The polyester market has stabilized in the meantime. Spun yarn prices could therefore drop, over a rise of cotton arrivals on the domestic market. Our weekly review offers a comprehensive picture of the domestic and export yarn markets in Pakistan, with cotton yarns, polyester-cotton, polyester-viscose, polyester spun and viscose spun prices being covered. All these weekly data are available for download over a 12-month period.

Cotton yarn prices are further declining in India, over a new drop of cotton fiber prices as larger cotton quantities are arriving at local markets, day after day. Cotton yarn export prices have further plunged in the meantime. Polyester fiber and spun yarn prices have stabilized, after previously rebounding. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

Cotton futures have last week plunged in New York, over anticipations of a longer US-China trade war than earlier expected. The conflict could result in US export sales slowing down, due to prohibitive import tariffs at China's border, already effective from last July. Demand from China is however expected surging in the current season, therefore favoring other origins than US, whereas a continuously rising demand from Vietnam and Bangladesh will continue supporting cotton prices. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index".
