EU's clothing imports have moved into very different ways in the second quarter and the first half this year, depending on markets. When unit values of clothing imports have surged, like in Spain or the UK, shipments in volume terms have dropped. In France by contrast, lower unit prices have resulted in significantly larger shipments from a year earlier. Our 5-year data from second quarter 2013 reflect long-term trends of European Union clothing markets, offering a comprehensive review of the European Union imports per destination. Cotton Prices on International and Domestic Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton prices have stayed unchanged in the last week, with a good support above 81 cents per lb in New York. Sharply stronger demand from China, but also from Vietnam, Bangladesh and Indonesia should maintain prices at relatively high levels in the current season, as production will slightly drop and stocks will again plunge in China, according to just released USDA data. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Cotton yarn prices have continued falling in the last seven days in Pakistan although cotton fiber prices have rebounded, our Pakistan correspondent reports. PSF prices have been further raised on the domestic market, whatever the fall of intermediate prices in the Far East. Our weekly review offers a comprehensive picture of the domestic and export yarn markets in Pakistan, with cotton yarns, polyester-cotton, polyester-viscose, polyester spun and viscose spun prices being covered. Spun yarn prices are rising across the board in India, in line with a new increase of fiber prices. The sharp fall of the rupee is possibly boosting exports, and therefore supporting domestic fiber and yarn prices on the cotton market. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Spun yarn prices have stabilized in the last week in China, in line with end of the rally in polyester fiber markets. As the surge of polyester intermediate prices finally reversed, pressure at downstream fiber plants is lifted to an extent. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
