The looming trade war is depressing the renminbi and making it more difficult to predict how fiber and yarn markets will behave in the coming weeks and months, although prices are expected to stay at high levels, anyway. Fiber and yarn prices have risen across the board in the past seven days in Pakistan, our correspondent reports. Not only cotton fibber prices but also polyester and viscose fiber prices have further surged with yarn prices following their example on the domestic market, however not rising on export markets. Cotton fiber prices have further surged in the last seven days in India where spinners have not been able to raise their yarn prices, with margins again falling at spinning mills, as a result. Cotton yarn export prices have even been lowered, due to slowing down demand from China. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

Cotton yarn prices are very slightly declining on the domestic market in China in line with weaker seasonal trends in the summer. Cotton yarn import prices have been significantly lowered in order to take into account the fall of the renminbi. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
