Cotton yarn export prices have been significantly lowered in the past seven days in India, over a rise of the rupee vs the renminbi and a consecutive lack of demand from China. Cotton prices are also dropping in India, leaving room for higher margins at spinning mills. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Spun polyester prices are now bottoming in China, in line with a slight rise of polyester staple fiber prices whereas viscose fiber and spun yarn prices are falling by contrast. Yarn import prices are depressed by the sharp decline of the renminbi. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Cotton prices have begun retreating back to lower levels, except in Pakistan where they have momentarily surged. The looming trade war is depressing the renminbi and making it more difficult to predict how fiber and yarn markets will behave in the coming weeks and months, although prices are expected to stay at high levels, anyway.
