Spun yarn prices are slightly dropping in China, as a clear sign of the weakness of demand from textile and apparel producers in this part of the year. The current fall of the renminbi could protect domestic producers from a new surge of yarn imports. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Cotton prices have plunged at the beginning of last week in New York before bottoming out and possibly finding a strong support at a lower level. China's decision to release additional import quotas and to slash 25% additional tariffs on US cotton will have significant consequences in the coming period. Viscose prices have also further risen but polyester prices are confronted with lower import prices, especially from China, our correspondent reports. India Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton yarn prices have been further raised in the last week in India as spinners were trying to limit the fall of their gross margins. Domestic cotton prices are however now falling in line with the international market. The cotton market could however be supported by a stronger demand from China, as a result of its trade war with the United States. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.
