Telcel, AT&T Mexico reach national roaming deal

(Telecompaper) Market leading Mexican mobile operator Telcel (America Movil) has announced a national roaming agreement with A&T Mexico. In a brief statement, Telcel confirmed it had reached a deal to provide AT&T users with national roaming access in Mexico, simply adding that the terms and conditions of the agreement meet the dominant operator's national roaming reference offer set by telecom regulator IFT. Rival operator Movistar (Telefonica) signed a similar national roaming agreement with Telcel at the end of 2016.

Russia orders end to national roaming charges within 2 weeks

(Telecompaper) Russian federal competition watchdog FAS has ordered the four major Russian mobile operators to stop charging extra for national roaming within 14 days. Beeline, MTS, Megafon and Tele2 Russia were ordered to apply the same rates for their services as in the customer's home region when the customers are traveling within the country. The regulator said that the differences in price were groundless, both from an economic and technological point of view.

Orange to grow LoRa footprint, test LoRaWAN network roaming

(Telecompaper) Orange France said that its network based on LoRa technology will achieve nationwide coverage by the end of the year. The announcement was part of the presentation made at the Orange booth in the Viva Technology event taking place Paris from 15 to 17 June. The company said that its LoRa footprint currently covers nearly 4,000 French towns and industrial sites, providing connectivity inside buildings and below ground. In a related announcement, Orange said that it is preparing to test roaming between its network and that of another European operator within the LoRa Alliance by December, as part of the standardisation efforts to enable roaming between LoRaWAN networks.
