You will support a missioncritical payload data ground system providing satellite data products to meteorological services worldwide. You will be part of a small multinational team. You will work in a complex Linuxbased environment comprising a large number of powerful, stateoftheart server and storage systems. Summary objective We are looking for a degreeeducated system engineer to work in a complex satellite data processing system. Our team supports the customer onsite in Darmstadt to process and deliver meteorological data to international users complete, in time and with good quality. Responsibilities Duties Performance monitoring and preventive maintenance to ensure continuous, complete and timely production and delivery of the products to the users Anomaly investigation, root cause analysis and Anomaly Reports handling this will also include providing recommendations for workarounds to mitigate satellite anomalies Support evolution of the software building, packaging, deployment, integration and testing in test environments and operational environment. Maintenance and update of operational documentations Perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification evolutions or major upgrades of the operational ground systems. Contribute to proposals, and to the IVV activities for major evolutions of the operational ground systems. Qualifications Experience Degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Telecommunication or other relevant scientific or engineering area Experience in software development, Integration, Verification and Validation IVV of complex systems Systemlevel and componentlevel experience complex system architecture with many interfaces, data flows and dependencies is more relevant than programming experience Experience working in a Linux based environment. Essential Skills Able to work in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail Working in Linux RHEL environment on shell level bash Network services SSH, NFS, FTP, HTTP typical in Linux environments Professional communication, in English language, with customer and other involved partiesteams Configuration Control processes and tools Able to work with minimum supervision. Desirable Skills Scripting languages bash, perl, python Databases SQL Source code configuration control Subversion Java C programming language Eclipse IDE knowledge Experience with highavailability systems RAID disk arrays, network interface bonding, cluster servers Experience with Payload Data Ground Segment systems Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, system and software lifecycles and standards. Position Reference 128 You will have the opportunity to support ESA in the Copernicus Space Component CSC Coordinated Data access System CDS project during the implementation cycle and operational deployment of the followup project PRISM Copernicus contributing missions access support functions and platform, responding to Copernicus Service Projects CSP evolving needs. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Provide system engineering support to ESA throughout all stages of the development lifecycle of PRISM which will gradually phase out the current CDS V3 implementation of the Copernicus Data Access infrastructure. Provide expert knowhow on all CDSPRISM elements and support functions SCI, CDD, CCO, CQC, CRP and their external and internal interfaces Be responsible for performance management reviews and operations management escalations Supervise the evolution cycle of PRISM support function toolsetteamsprocesses Provide support to the phase inphase out of operations Supervise the CDSPRISM software maintenance lifecycle Provide support to definition of new PRISM requirements ITT, CCNs and the implementationmodification of the operations scenarios. Oversee the integration of newupgraded interfaces between the Copernicus Contributing Missions CCMs and CDSPRISM. Organize and chair formal reviews with the CCM management and technical teams Review project documentation issuing and managing RIDS Follow up actions until the final Operational Readiness Review and Transfer to Operations of the CCM interfaces with the CDSPRISM infrastructure. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a University degree or equivalent qualification related to System Engineering. You have a good knowledge of relevant standards, requirements management, change control and acceptance procedures, agile processes. You have experience in executing and supporting formal verification and validation activities. You have experience in large IT systems design. The following skills would be highly desirable You have knowledge of the Copernicus Space Component Data Access CSCDA context. You possess a specific experience in Copernicus Data Access.
