Your Tasks The Engineer will provide service to the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations Team. The tasks in the area of SC platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Familiarisation with the MSG satellite design and operations procedures as necessary Contribution to the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MSG spacecraft. Provision of Satellite Operations Engineer oncall service Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews e.g. eclipses, reconditioning, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc Contribute for both current and future missions to the production and maintenance of Automated and Manual procedures, Operational databases Special Operations Instructions SOIs, Other operational documentation e.g. SOE Guide, Contingency Operations Guide etc. Contribution to the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual Contribution of SubSystem expertise for the Satellite Simulator maintenance and engineering for current and future missions Contribution to the satellite monitoring and control facility operations team and maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose Participation to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft and associated ground segment elements Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Participation in the preparation and specification of ground system updates including the MC systems and monitoring analysis tools Preparation and review of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material regarding SC Operations. Contribution to the MTG system operations development for SC operations related topics. Contribution to the implementation, test and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Contribution to the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects. Participation to the preparation and execution of the Operational System Validation activities also including SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning. Contribute to the definition andor review of MTG commissioning activities. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have proven experience of spacecraft operations. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the key persons to have experience with some of the following Operations andor design of satellite Payload for earth observations. Operations preparation of a satellite project. Routine spacecraft operations for Geostationary missions The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work without supervision. Spacecraft Operations Engineer Darmstadt, Germany Thorn Satellite Data Services Thorn SDS has an exciting opportunity for an early career Spacecraft Operations Engineer with 25 years of relevant experience. This role provides you with a unique opportunity to undertake realtime Spacecraft Operations on a highprofile meteorological satellite fleet in geostationary orbit. You will also work in parallel as an Operations Preparations Engineer to prepare for the operations of the next generation of spacecraft. Working as part of a highly technical and coordinated engineering team you should be true team player. We expect you to be willing and able to provide cover and support to your colleagues and undertake occasional call out responsibilities. It is likely that you will have main or backup responsibilities for one or a number of spacecraft subsystems including Thermal TCS, Electrical Power Systems EPS, Data Handling DHS, Telemetry Tracking and Control TTC, Attitude and Orbit Control AOCS etc. Although some training will be provided, any experience in one or more of these disciplines would be beneficial. Identification and support to the implementation of system and process improvements concerning the spacecraft operations team responsibilities. Support the systems and operations preparation of the MTG satellites. Qualification Experience You should have a University degree in the domain of engineering, physics or equivalent and additionally have some working experience of either routine operations of satellite systems or operations preparation, ideally within a geostationary spacecraft environment. Some experience of interfacing to Flight Dynamics and Mission Planning teams would also be beneficial. Much of the role involves data analysis, reporting, prioritising actions according to constraints, preparing technical presentations and developing technical solutions to complex issues so these activities should all be second nature to you. Position Reference 097 RHEA is currently recruiting an EPSSG Operations Preparation Engineer for Databases and OBSW end to end Operations to support the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Responsible for OBSW end to end activity, in charge of the definition of the overall operational concept from the interface with industry up to the uplink of the new software images to the satellites. Produce the OBSW Ops Guide and related operation procedures. Responsible for the end to end operational concept to manage reference and characterisation Databases being delivered to EUMETSAT. This also includes operational interfaces with industry. Define for each type of Database its life cycle and configuration control for operation usage. This will also imply the definition of Operations Department OPS documentation, procedures and working practices. In charge of the development of the Satellite Operational Database based on the Satellite Reference Database and OPIT inputs. Manage the Operational Database against changes to successive Satellite Reference Databases deliveries. Provide a single interface within OPIT for the Satellite and Instrument Characteristic Databases and support FDF and PDAP experts for their respective Databases. Contribute to OICDs with external partners with respect to OBSW and Databases items. Manage Ops Prep database editor tool and OBSW tool environments. Support the setting up of the OPS Configuration Management CM tool to manage satellite and ground configuration control. Coordinate the needs for operational configurations of the OBSW tools, procedures and Databases for a multi ground segment environments OPE, VAL, ENG and multisatellites. Support the MCO and PDAP ground segment development teams as Ops Prep representative with respect to OBSW and Databases interfaces and tools. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with at least three years experience in the field of spacecraft and ground segment operations with specific experience as follow Satellite operation preparation and routine operations phases OBSW maintenance expertise with good knowledge of Configuration Management CM processes for both ground images and onboard memory management Satellite Databases management in the frame of the operation preparation phase Experience on Operation Preparation tools such as procedure editor and databases management tools Familiarity with the definition of operational interfaces and interactions with industry or external partners. Location ESEC, Redu, Belgium Description Reporting directly to the Head of the Redu Spacecraft Operations Section within the Studies and Special Projects Division of DOPS. The postholder will be primarily involved in ongoing operations of the PROBA Spacecraft and in the study and preparation phases for future missions of this type. In addition the postholder is to support the Head of the Redu Spacecraft Operations Section regarding the evolution of ESEC and the execution of the operationsrelated activities at ESEC. The postholder performs the allocated tasks in close cooperation with the SC Operations Manager of the PROBA missions, acting as deputy if required.
