Copernicus System Operations Engineer 1813018 Job Description We are looking for 2 System Operations Engineers for our client EUMETSAT. Your role will cover two missions Copernicus Sentinel3 mission supporting the routine Sentinel3A operations, as well as for the commissioning phase for Sentinel3B leading to the routine operations phase for the dual satellite system. Copernicus Sentinel6JasonCS mission supporting the build up for operations expected to start from mid 2019 leading to commissioning and then routine operations of S6. Provide expertise in operational ground segment operations Contribute to raising, processing and coordinating anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in relevant Anomaly Review Boards Contribute to coordination and implementation of ground segment modifications, including their documentation, approval, implementation, testing and training, including participation in Change Review Boards, as well as TRR, TRB, ORR as needed Contribute to the operations boards, technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning coordination meetings. Participate in system operations team meetings and associated activities and reviews where required. Provide oncall support, on an as needed basis. Operational Monitoring and Reporting Contribute to the design, development, documentation and maintenance of tools that provide production statistics reports and support the monitoring and operations of the mission production and dissemination and related auxiliary dataflows, as requested. Contribute to the generation of the Copernicus KPIs and joint EUMtopartner service level statistics, as needed, including their computation. Operational Documentation Contribute to the generation, maintenance and update of systemlevel operations related design, user documentation, procedures or operations guides, for example as a result of a system update or a validation activity, in accordance with the established EUMETSAT Operations Department configuration management and quality assurance practices. Perform operational validation of the operational procedures and coordinate specific operational validation test OVT campaigns, resulting in new or updated operational documentation. Evolutions of the Ground Segment Systems Acquire and maintain an operational view of the ground segment, as well as a systemwide understanding of its interfaces with multimission elements MMEs and external interfaces. Review any planned changes or evolutions to the system configurations for the ground segment to assess potential operational impacts. Interface with teams responsible for the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrades. Operations Build up Participate and coordinate the joint test campaigns with the operational partners during the operational build up phases of Sentinel3B LEOP, commissioning, SIOV, Rampup and JasonCSSentinel6. Required Skills and Experience A university degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the job profile. At least 3 years experience of the system operations and monitoring of realtime, complex, satellite instrument data processing systems, as well as demonstrated experience in planning and coordination of operation build up activities. Demonstrated experience of the definition, development, integration, acceptance testing and operation of flight and mission operations and data systems. Demonstrated experience with UNIXLinux operating systems. Be able to communicate effectively in English verbally and written Be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work under pressure and with a minimum of supervision. Desirable Skills and Experience Development and maintenance of operational procedures andor configuration data. Experience with data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. Scripting languages and databases e.g. Perl, Python, shell, Oracle. Some experience with definition and development of test tools and generation of test data sets. Your Tasks Include The Key person shall work in the Operations and User Services Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. The Fleet Operations UK Satellite Operations Center UKSOC Spacecraft Engineer position is a shift position, reporting to the onshift Mission Director, and works closely with the Spacecraft Operators to respond to satellite anomalies and payload system outages to maintain quality of service of a large constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. The chief responsibility of the spacecraft engineer is to maintain satellite payload service performance, health and satellite safety. The spacecraft engineer is the focal point for anomaly detection and resolution but also analyzes and trends OneWeb satellite data and directs satellite configuration changes to maintain performance within defined parameters. The spacecraft engineer is the liaison between the satellite control and subsystem and system engineers to resolve satellite issues. The engineer drafts mission planning requests and manual contingency command plans when required. Responsibilities Perform onconsole satellite engineering support in a shift environment Perform satellite telemetry trending and analysis Respond to satellite anomalies and service outages and facilitates recoveries Build, validate and deliver satellite configurable item changes to maintain satellite performance requirements Draft mission planning requests to perform required satellite commanding Required Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will have experience in Satellite subsystems including satellite payload RF communication systems Engineering analysis tools Orbital Mechanics of LEO satellites Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of all aspects of job and take initiative Excellent oral and written skills and communication briefing skills is essential.
