LEO Configuration Management Consultant We are looking to further enhance our team by LEO Configuration Management Consultant You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Your Tasks Include The Key Person will be integrated within the Information Management and Configuration Management Competence Area of the Process Assurance and Management Support Division PRS. The general tasks of the Key Person will be to provide support to the LEO Configuration Manager. Tasks of the Key Person will include Managing the documentation under configuration control according to the agreed procedures and supporting the release of relevant configuration listsreports Act as secretary of Configuration Control Board meetings, prepare and convene the meetings, analyse the proposed engineering changes, prepare the relevant Minutes of Meeting, and notify the external entities as necessary Follow up the change process with the related action items, to ensure timely information availability on the status of changes Track versions of hardware and software items and documentation according to the evolution of the configured items Verify the hardware and software configuration status by performing configuration audits Maintain up to date the configuration management databases Support the drafting, review and update of the Product Documentation Trees, generate and maintain the Configuration Item lists Support the drafting, reviews and update of the Configuration Management Plans and related Working Practice and Procedures Support the definition and maintenance of Baselines at Programme, System and Ground Segment Levels Issue Configuration Status Accounting Reports for the configuration items under direct Client responsibility Support the definition of Configuration Management Requirements Support technical reviews for Configuration Management aspects Support Design Reviews, coordinating the distribution of the datapackage to the reviewers, in coordination with the Information Management function. Contribute to the advertisement and continuous improvements of applicable CM processes, procedures, and guidelines. Document and perform validation testing on new Generic Dimensions Framework our Clients corporate CM tool releases. Contribute to the provision of S.M.A.R.T. requirements for CM Tool enhancements Attend the regular coordination PRS CM meetings, report on the progress of assigned actions, raise issues requiring management attention, and exchange with other PRS CM members on respective experiences and best solutions to address common issues In the performance of these tasks, the Key Person shall comply with our Clients policies, working practices and procedures. The set of applicable documents to be applied during the execution of the work will be made available to the Key Person at start of the duties Your Profile In addition to a University degree in computer science or engineering, the Key Person shall have a demonstrated experience of at least 5 years conducting and implementing Configuration Management of large scale, softwarecentred systems in an operational environment, preferably for highavailability 24hday systems like e.g. processingproduction chains, data centres or satellite systems. Experience in Quality Assurance, space system project control andor process modelling of largescale systems with a very good understanding of project development life cycle methodologies would be considered, providing that adequate knowledge and involvement in Configuration Management activities is also demonstrated. Following skills are mandatory Proven significant knowledge and experience in specifying, reviewing and implementing Configuration Management plans, processes and working practices, or at least extensive experience in providing management support to programmes or projects in development Significant experience in project development methodologies, and in particular in configuration management including the definition or review of upstream source code configuration management requirements, control of configuration evolutions of systems software, hardware, databases, satellite and ground system procedures, documents, media, COTS software and COTS Licences, up to the testing and deployment of new releases on configuration controlled environments Extensive knowledge and experience with configuration management tools e.g. Serena Dimensions CM, Jira or Clearcase or business process management tools electronic workflows Experience of software development on a medium or large size project Extensive knowledge and experience with process modelling tools and techniques. Extensive knowledge and experience of a Configuration Management, Quality Assurance or Project Management standard e.g. ISO, ANSI, ECSS, CMMI Proven experience in planning, developing and implementing training sessions andor coaching sessions to users and stakeholders. A new role for a Configuration Controller in Earth Observation, Navigation Science has arisen in Portsmouth The succesful candidate will be responsible for managing the configuration on the PDM tool day to day with periodic supervision and guidance from the Configuration Manager. This role applies change control techniques and processes within the SPRINT PMC and CONNECT Windchill company tools and requires to have a deep understanding and ability in the product, function, assembly and asbuilt trees and views in both tools, as well as the ability and willingness to handle documentation in both tools, and secure manual documentation processing. Training in the company tools will be given according to the projects assignment and candidate experience need. Internal Relationships As a member of one or more product or project teams, provide advice and guidance on Configuration Management and Technical Data Management issues. Act as the central point of contact for the assigned product and project teams and be the issuing and distribution authority for formal product data. External Relationships Provide an interface for all formal data transactions from external sources and from different contractual levels within the company. Be aware of the customer CM requirements for the company and flow down to lower tier subcontractors. Perform configuration management define, plan, schedule and organize CM activities in the programmeproject context over the entire product life cycle. Identify configuration items to be placed under their formal configuration control. Identify the requirements and the functional and physical characteristics of those configuration items. Ensure configuration control control and document changes to those characteristics and operate effective Configuration Control Boards CCB. Ensure configuration status accounting record, retrieve and report configuration status. Ensure configuration verification and audit verify achievement of required product characteristics.
